Is it true that he gains weight in training camp though? That alone sounds like bull****. You would think that he would put on weight in between fights and cut it off in training camp.
Why is that? Any serious natural gym-rat will tell you a) they lose weight when they are out of the gym (e.g. 2 weeks of sickness, can't train) b) gain weight after going to the gym for 3-4 weeks Wlad does a lot of cardio in this training sessions I guess but with the right caloric intake and diet I have no doubt he can gain weight even through grueling sparring sessions.
If I recall correctly, Chef has said that Wlad does swimming during his training. That's a great way to both get your cardio and build lean muscle, particularly if you have good nutrition and get protein every 2-4 hours or so as Kevin McBride said above. You add the swimming to possibly some higher-rep weight routines (Chef said something about this and what weight training Wlad does around training, can't remember what it was) and adding 15 lbs of mass for a guy with Wlad's height and nutritional knowledge and experience doesn't seem out of the realm of possibly to me.
Its strange to see heavyweight fighters who have to gain weight in prepartation of fight night. Most of em get obese, and have to lose alot of excess bodyfat. Not these guys. They are even leaner between fights. Rare indeed.
he is tall and lean wearing a casual polo style shirt. it also appears to be a size or two above his measurements .
I have been lifting weights for 17 years. I have never put on more the 10 lbs in a year. That's while consuming 4000-5000 calories a day, and ZERO cardio. I am 6'1 245lbs and have to eat a minimum of 5000 calories a day to maintain that weight. I do zero cardio. I have trained numerous pro fighters, and prepared fighters for 12 round championship fights. Lean muscular guys are not going to gain 15 lbs of muscle in an an 8 week training camp. I would bet my life on that. Sparring, speedbag, padwork, floor work, jumping rope, and road work... anyone that thinks tall, lean, with long limbed guys like the Klit brothers are going to gain 15 lbs in an 8 week training camp are absolutely clueless.
So why have U.S. athletes failed more IOC drug tests than all Eastern European nations combined. Honestly; It is just sour grapes and spin doctoring when Americans cast accusations about PED abuse when they lose international competitions. Everyone uses PED's and the U.S. is at the forefront. The success' of Eastern European countries is their education and work ethic, something the U.S. is lacking.
I have seen photos on the net of them both looking so skinny that they don't look like themselves. Looks like entirely different people. the onl way I could explain a fighter managing to gain weight throughout a serious 8 week training camp is with the help of PED. I reference Victor Conte. Created designer PED that were undetectable. Can anyone seriously think there are not similar guys like Victor Conte in Europe. Come on now. Another alternative is an athlete could take IGF-1 which actually grows satellite cells in muscle tissue. The athlete could then use anabolics to mature these new muscle cells, and then come off the anabolics in time for testing, but still be bigger/stronger then before.
to be fair i saw vitali standing alongside haye on german tv and he was like twice as wide in the shoulders as him and maybe they do very little strength work outside camp but continue to run and eat nowhere near as much. they can also work on their leg strength and add muscle there which, judging by your photo you have clearly neglected also, you have made clear to this forum who you are and where you come from and stated your invlovement with a professional fighter in the past which means in a court of law you could not plead ignorance. coming on here making allegations on the back of a few photos is quite a dangerous game my freind. without proof they could sue your ass
He is a slim guy. Low fat and good definition create the illusion of more size. Plus, he does bulk up a few pounds for fights.
