Hooking i think would be a horrible idea as you need to get too close. Now a straight right like Mayweather did to Mitchel i can agree on. Considering the amount of power Wlad has in his right its something i think he could use to devastating effect.
As has already been said, it leaves him open. It's just hard to go to the body of a guy much shorter than you, you have to kind of lean down or to the side - much easier against a taller guy to go to the body, of course. This is why its kind of surprising Chavez JR opted for such a dedicated body attack (except wanting to be like his dad, of course). When you lean over, you really can leave your chin out there if you aren't very coordinated at it. Some guys don't like body attacks because it leaves the head open - you might have to rely on your chin. Generally, mediocre punchers have to soften up their opponents to the body, strong punchers can hit to the head or wherever they want and ignore it.
You always have to look to improve incase one time you get into the ring and what you've always done isn't working.
Mayweather dominates his division unbeaten, is p4p no.1, fights, fought and defeated more world champs and is top 50 welter. But Wlad fights bums , boxes something awful, gets blown out 3 times and is a top 10 ATG?
It makes him predictable..He comes to fight the excat same fight everytime....If he fought im any other era , he'd be defeated before he even steps in the ring.
NYou hit the nail on the head. Wlad just can't risk getting hit. Wlad just can't take a punch at all.
Protecting that chin.....bodywork would give opponent's to many opportunities....and he's been successful with his approach so why fix it if it isn't broken.
Soon to be top 10 atg. Deal with it brittard, oh and according to you he can't box! How come he was never outboxed in his career?
