He seems to have all the talent and more at his disposal yet in every fight that I think he has a good chance of winning, he falls short. Being a southpaw myself, he was in my eyes the ideal southpaw fighter, a strong, elusive quick left-hander with powerful countering ability. He even had Pernell Whitaker on his side for Christ's sake. Not enough heart?
doesnt have enough dicipline or Heart of a champion, talent can only take you so far if you dont have the will!
Zab doesn't seem to have gotten the proper guidance in his career. The people in his camp did not seem to have his best interest at hand, and having his father as his trainer may have hurt him. His father is not a top trainer, and he never seemed to acquire the ring intelligence and tricks of the trade to get him over the hump. It's too late for him now, so he can either continue to be a trialhorse, or retire. He hasn't shown the ability to consistently get his punches off in his recent fights.
people keep saying he has all the talent and natural gifts but i havnt seen that. zab lacks the ring smarts and intelligence to beat opponents. thats part of being a talented boxer. having natural physicals gifts is only a fraction of what it takes. zab has great speed and power and awesome reflexes but if you dont know how and when to use those gifts then what good are they? boxings about so much more than being a good athlete and zab was never willing to explore the techniques needed to be a great boxer. he was a one trick poney!.... he could counter you off the back foot with that left hand and that was about it!
As others have said, Zab has the physical tools, but not the heart, discipline, and ring intelligence necessary to get it done at the highest level. He's good enough on his talent alone to beat the paper champs out there, but not good enough to beat the truly elite fighters.
He's the 4 round GOAT, only has two losses inside 4 rounds... Judah's gotten as far as he has on pure talent, the dedication, intelligence and corner advice has never been there. I'd of loved to of seen him take on a prime Hatton at 140.
Exactly! The problem is that as people watch Zabs great spped and fancy footwork they just assume the other traits are there. Those of us who have been watching him for years realize his many faults though, which more often than not lose him the fight.
yeah he's one of those fighters that can fool certain people into believing he's good. i was one of those people or a while. i watched him against mayweather for the irst few rounds and some early fights against guys like micky ward and he looks very flashy and explosive. but the more you watch him you realise he hasn't got a plan b. or if he did have a plan b he didnt have the staying power to see the fight out. im not gna bad mouth him cus he is great to watch at times but it just goes to show how multi facated and rounded you have to be to be a great champ.
Judah is the perfect example of speed and athleticism affecting a judgement. He was never anywhere near as skilled as some of his fans say, just like Dirrell isn't. These fighters get overrated because they're flashy and to people with a lack of knolwedge, flashy = skills.
