Why doesn't anyone fight people in their own weight divisions any more?

Canelo has made his career by fighting guys who were moving up in weight to fight him. He holds the middleweight title. When is he going to fight a legit 160 lber.?

I'm sick of people telling me how great he is when he won't fight guys his own size.

boxing fans share a good bit of responsibility for this. Anybody who ever loses gets called a bum, fighters avoid risks like the plague to protect their market position.

Also the alphabets made it easier to get your hands on any kind of belt, you had to work yourself up the food chain in the old days and you had the fight the one and only man in each division to become the champ.

Also parasite lawyers who make sure that their guy gets every advantage imaginable and the opponent's lawyers doing the same prevents many fights from happening.

Network wars etc. There are many factors at play here.

Boxing is the wild west. Its run by money hungry wanabe gangsters. Its the fights that make the most money with the least threat to their Boxers that get made.

And the sanctioning bodies are just as criminal and corrupt as the promoters these days. They just want their cut too so they want the same things the promoters want. American audiences make them the most money so in their eyes a perfect scenario would be an American world champ fighting on American PPV. Which is why Fury got his belt took off him so quick and pretty much dropped in the lap of an American. Though he didnt keep it so long cuz he was really ***
