Why doesn't B-Hop want any part of Dawson?

After he fought Pavlik, B-hop said there were 'bigger fights' than Dawson. Now that there is no obvious next opponent for Hopkins, what's wrong with Dawson?

With Calzaghe gone, it must be the biggest fight possible at LHW.

He has to wait for that fight if he were to take it cause Dawson fights Tarver in may.

My mistake, I thought it was March when Dawson and Tarver fought.

Young fighter who has fast hands, good workrate, good movement and throws combos from all angles.:deal Hopkins doesn't want to deal with that right now. He'd rather face a guy who is more one-dimensional so that he could take him apart and Dawson doesn't fit that description.

That may be true but if anybody can take Dawson apart it's Bernard Hopkins.

At this stage of BHOP's carrier I don't see him beating someone like Dawson, he can beat Hopkins just with his speed and athleticism alone ala Taylor, not to mention he is a way better boxer than Taylor, and bigger.

Adamek offers more money, more recognition (The Ring title, 3rd division crown) and bigger challenge due to 200 is exactly 30 pounds north of the weight Hopkins last fought at. But the most solid reason is that Chad Dawson's national and international fanbase can't pack a 4-door sedan. Which is a problem as Hopkins is no JCC for the US public.

Exactly. And it wouldn't look as good on paper if Hopkins fought Dawson and beat him.

You have a point but I don't think Hopkins wants that fight too much of a risk and it has the potential of him looking really bad and old. He wants a guy like Adamek who is easy to find and will come forward not a guy like Dawson that will try and box with Hopkins and use angles. Not to mention Dawson has excellent handspeed an a great jab that would give anyone hell even a master like Hopkins. A prime Hopkins I would favor over Dawson this one I'm not so sure.

He would regain the LHW ring title if he beat Dawson as they are currently ranked 1&2 with the championship vacant.

I don't really get how he (Hopkins,) can be on the pound for pound rankings when Dawson isn't and a lot of people reckon he'd beat B-Hop.

Yeah, I suppose that would probably earn more cash so it's bigger from that point of view, but fighting Dawson would bring more clarity to the division and would be better for the sport.

yes you would think wouldnt you. but look at the hatton malignaggi for instance. The LWW division was crying out for the number 1 vs the number 2. and now that hatton has beat the number 2, there is still always excuses. i dont think its possible to get clarity because theres always an excuse.

Dawson is 6'3" with good speed and power. He is also 16 years younger then Hopkins and is a very hungry champion. I dont think Hopkins really wants to take a chance with a loss after the Calzaghe fight. I believe he feels that he can beat Adamek much easier then Dawson. I dont think Hopkins deserves to be in the top 5 P4P anyway even if he beats Adamek. I'll put him up a spot or 2 to maybe 7 or 8 but I dont see how at this point in his career he deserves to be in the top 5.
