A 39 year old glen Johnson beat him I highly doubt after seeing that fight calzaghe was quaking in his boots.

It's pretty simple imo there's just not enough money in a Dawson fight to make it worthwhile + dawson is fighting tarver again yawn...

I certainly don't think calzaghe is or was in any way scared of dawson.

Calzaghe ducked Glen Johnson 3 times. So I fail to see what that has to do with anything. Glen Johnson knocked out Calzaghe's self proclaimed greatest oppinent Roy Jones.

Btw, there really is no way you could have scored it for Johnson. I scored it a draw, but the swing rounds were in Dawsons favor not Johnsons.

I didnt say he was scared. I said he didnt want to have to dig deep for a victory. He wouldnt fight someone who would make him go all out. Its like someone asking you to run the marathon, you wouldnt scared, but you wouldnt want to do it either.

:goodExactly (assuming calzaghe said the above about welter etc). If Joe wants to retire because his hearts not it in then fine, leave it at that. Don't try and make it like there's absolutely no legit comp for himself and he'd beat dawson (and others) without even trying.

I watched a replay of Taver/Dawson last night and i have to say i dont think Chad is ready for Joe at this moment in time.....With some more experience maybe down the road i just dont think he can take Joe right now.

I have to agree with you but the guy is young, talented and hungry. I hope he goes on to rule the division for some time.

Joe has obviously lost the desire to carry on, so good luck to the man.

Because Dawson is young, hungry and he's the best light heavyweight out there. To big of a risk

Calzaghe's almost 37 years old. Rich. Famous. 46 wins under his belt. He doesn't feel the need or desire to impress anymore. Can't blame him. If he beat Dawson, then boxing fans would throw some other name out there as evidence of Calzaghe 'ducking'. It's never ending. The guy has to be one of the smartest fighters in decades.
