i just saw one of his instagram videos and he looks pretty fit, but his face is sunk in. he looks like he literally kills himself to make 155. i think he's simply scared of getting knocked out by GiGi. anyone who thinks canelo can beat GiGi is either overrating canelo or severely underrating GiGi. there's no attributes to canelo that would trouble GiGi but that's besides the point. he's also heavier than a lot of middleweights after he stuffs his face to rehydrate after weighins.. i think canelo is a coward
He's following the Oscar blueprint of using former stars as a springboard for his career. Cotto is 10 years older than Canelo...this reminisces of DeLaHoya vs Whitaker and Camacho to me. GGG is in his prime now and so is Canelo. If they really wanted that fight, they could make it happen at a catchweight even. They don't want it.
Most boxers use the advantage of boiling down to give themselves as much of a weight advantage as possible for as long as they physically can. It's much easier to do when younger. This is standard practice. Especially if the fighter can still make big money fights there. I'd look for Canelo to move up officially very soon. Though should he beat Cotto, he will try to stay away from 160 until he can get GGG to fight at a catch weight for a little extra potential advantage.
but they're ready to fight for a middleweight title? makes too much sense... canelo is naturally heavier than a lot of middleweights. it's not that he's not ready, he just doesn't want to. i think GiGi is the reason for that though :scaredas:
He is fighting above 154 so Canelo is a middleweight, can't have it any other way. Canelo and Oscar have just bottled a Golovkin fight, I am not surprised. Its all very different when he fights smaller men, comes in overweight and holds every advantage. Canelo is jus proving he isn't the fearless warrior people think he is.
lol@guys considering fights to be invalid retroactively.....i bet you thought pacs victories over cotto and margarito were all straight though
