Cut the nonsense. Golovkin made it clear that he's not moving down for anyone but Mayweather and Pacquiao. It's either tomato cans for Golovkin or Welterweights.

Canelo has said multiple times he as no problem making 154, he just simply hasn't had a title shot there. in a non title bout half a pound or one pound has never been a big deal came into the Kirkland fight at 154.5, to answer the questions though why should he be in a hurry?

Realistically there is only 1 fight worth going to 160 for and that's GGG outside of that its nothing else really, at least at 154 he can fight some of the bigger welters who are planning to move up like Thurman, Brook, Bradley, could fight guys like Andrade, the Charlo's, possibly even a Lara rematch for one of the title's there it's a lot more options than 160 right now.

    Mayweather, Pacquiao, Khan, Bradley.......
Those are 4 potential big paydays for Canelo if he stuck to 154 lbs.

What are the potential paydays up at 160 lbs?
Give me the big list guys?:hey

The three still active fighters there are 147, and the only one of them that would bring more money than GGG would insist on a catchweight, it would look just like the de la Hoya shambles

i understand you wanting a big mexican with the imminent retirement of JMM, but thats not gonna happen for a long long time. Marquez was a very special fighter, Canelo is not

It's the same as GGG's team cited for not fighting Ward: risk/reward.

At this point, GGG doesn't bring the $$$$ to the table so not worth the risk. If Canelo beats Cotto, he should make at least the $10M guaranteed to Cotto for this fight as he's obviously the A side against a guy whose PPV record is 97-150k buys.

because he's 5'8" - and you are not beating any quality opponents at MW when you are that tall. GGG at 5'10" is small at that weight and his frame is considerably bigger, longer, taller than Canelo.

Canelo should go up only when he's ready to cash out for big money when the right opponent emerges.

It's in his interest to keep fighting at 155lbs for as long as possible - and if good fights keep coming up like this then i have no problem.

If Canelo were to destroy Cotto, the 160 lbs title and a close to similar payday that he had vs Pacquiao would be a lure for Mayweather.

Pacquiao has three money options, Mayweather, Marquez, or Canelo at 154 lbs. A Canelo fight would be easier to make and negotiate for Pacquiao, and Roach is a dumb enough **** to think Pacquiao could take Canelo at any weight.

Bradley has allready said he'd fight Canelo, to the casuals he's more known than GGG because of his fights with Pacquiao and Marquez.
Bradley is a bigger payday for Canelo than is GGG, and for much less risk.

Then there is Khan who all the big names duck.
He just might have to move up to 154 lbs to find a weight division where the champion wont duck him.

Pretty sure a look at his prior opposition would show the notion of Canelo being scared is simply wishful thinking from those who don't like him.

    Very good observations.

Even after making 155, Canelo still outwieghs GiGi by more than 1/2 dozen lbs on fight night.

If he were to come in at 160 he'd be a functional 180, 10lbs more than GGG.

    But yeah, Golovkin KO6 Canelo.

He is Canelo until he ducks GGG, then he becomes CnaelHOE. :good

155 will bite him in the azz one day. He needs to just go up to full 160. Accept his beating like a man/good boy.

until the rich boys of 147 and 154 officially retire, every boxer that can squeeze close to that weight will keep draining themselves.

Once Pac is gone, May is gone for sure, and Bradly stops with his suicidal wishes, Canelo will stop torturing himself and will move to 160 lbs.

How he makes 155 is beyond me. He re-hydrates to 174!!!, that is 19 pounds in 24 hours!
