Mayweather's boundless ego which has, many of time, taken him to the edge of the unsteadiest of limbs in proclaiming himself to be the G.O.A.T., is above all the reason why he takes the harshest criticisms when he elects not to challenge himself against the most formidable opposition at his own weight class.
Obviously, you do not know how to put ionto perspective the Hoya fights in both Pac and Mayweather's resumes. The Hoya fights were money fights, nothing more or less. The weights that both fighters had to go to does not mean that they will be comfortable fighting opponents in that division. Can you imagine Mayweather fighting the 154's. Pac probably is stretching it a bit already because he is not a 147 fighter as well. Those fights were just a blips in their resumes because there is no way that May would be fighting at 154 or Pac facing the 147s' . The hoya fights were once in a lifetime opportunity to get as much money as you can. Do not forget what are the natural fighting weights of these guys, because this is where the disagreement and confusion arise on this. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected The Hoya fight was never included in the scheme of things when we talk about fighting weights for Pac and Mayweather for the simple reason stated above. Now, if you disagree on those divisons where the two fighters fights, then you probably have valid points. You see, it is also a double edge sword. If you believe that Mayweather belongs to the 140, then he had to gain 4 pounds, and JMM to gain 9 pounds. But that set-up is simply not possible because you can not ask another fighter for both of you to jump a division or two to fight in a division neither of you belong. And if you say that Mayweather is actually in the 154 division, then it is ****ed up bigtime because he is now a 6th grade student picking on a grade one student. Now if you say that Mayweather weighs in between the 140-147, then that means that the negotiations was one-sided. Now, back to the last person not accounted for - JMM. Is JMM a 140 pounder or a 135 pounder. You can decide for yourself.
So because Cotto beat all of those WW's he gets a FREE pass to fight a Super Featherweight....the same thing Floyd is doing...but at a lower weight
1. Because Manny is the such called P4P #1 2. Because Manny just beat the **** out of DLH. (drained or not) 3. Because MAnny is not 37y/o . 4. Because Cotto doesn't talk all the **** Floyd speak. 5. Because Cotto doen't think he is the only one who can sell fights. 6. Because Cotto doesn't think he is boxing money making machine. 7. Because Cotto already fought the top guys in the division and Floyd hasn;t.
First remember, Pac wanted the fight - he told Arum to make it happen. Second, the reason Floyd is hated on so much is because they say he avoided top fighters, which Cotto has not done. Cotto has fought Margarito, Mosley, Clottey (Guys many think Mayweather ducked). Now he's being called out by Pac. He would be stupid not to take this fight, there's a lot of money involved, plus fans want to see it. Third, I think the hate for Mayweather grew after he took on the bad boy role with many fights. He may be trying to change it now, we'll see.
If Mayweather was fighting a guy who disposed of DLH and Hatton the same way Pacquiao did, they wouldn't have. If you haven't seen the recent polls, most people think the fight to make is Mayweather/Pacquiao, so if he were to fight against Pacquiao, I doubt everyone would be coming out of the woodwork to call him a bully or cherrypicker.
Cotto is fighting Pacquiao at a catch weight just like Floyd is doing by fighting Marquez but you want to know the different is? Pacquiao is the favorite to beat Cotto while Mayweather is a huge heavy favorite to beat Marquez. Also this is the not the first time Pacquiao went up around the ww division. Super featherweight? Yea super feather weight that just ko Hatton to win a legit junior ww title.
