Wrote this in another thread, but damn been thinking about it for a while. It's like right there for the taking.

If I was Cotto I would hire a S&C coach, go down to WW where he really belongs cause 154 is to big for him against real Prime 154 guys like Trout, Canelo, Lara, Molina, Kirkland. Imagine a better conditioned Cotto packing some Muscles, and can go the full and at 147 he would have the size advantage on most guys, like DAMN! Hire MEMO or Ariza, and keep the good strategist.

Fight a guy like Paulie Maulinaggi who is aching for a Money fight, who better then Cotto at New York.

Like come on should I advise cotto or what its such a simple move... Then he picks up a belt in a winnable fight and he is right back up there, then he can go with JMM after and sell out out a PPV... like come on.

    Someone relay this to cotto.

He hasn't done it yet because he can't be bothered to make 147 anymore. He can still do it I think (much like both Floyd and Manny could both make 140 if they felt like it), but he chooses not to probably because he doesn't like cutting weight at his age, and I don't know about what kind of shape he keeps himself in outside of training, but my guess is he can drift up to maybe 170 when he's not in training. It can't be fun or easy to cut weight at his age.

This would be the best career move though, without question.

You think Miguel is that shot? Paulie most recently got his ass kicked by a dude that a shot Morales owned. I think Miguel can still take him at this stage.

why because he lost to Trout and Floyd?
Trout would school a prime Pac so a half shot Cotto losin to him isnt terrible
Cotto still beats most 147 fighters

You'd think he'd be able to make 147 pretty easily with his frame but he's a food lover and he doesn't live like a monk between fights. Watch the Pac/Cotto 24/7 and observe what he put himself through to make the weight...

Is he like Trinidad or Vargas in that respect? I know Vargas used to balloon up in weights between fights, and I've heard a few times that Trinidad got as high as 190 at times when he wasn't in training (I think the commentators said something like that during the telecasts for the DLH and Mayorga fights, can't remember for sure though.)

Probably for the same reason he moved up to 154.

Diaz has a degree in sports science and also works with Phil Landman, who's been with Cotto since he beat Quintana. I don't see why everyone keeps screaming "hire a S&C coach". Gassing in the 12th after a high-energy fight but still coming forward to me is not indicative of severe problems.

He was gassed after round 9 with trout, gassing with Margo 2 and probably would have lost if Margo didn't have a ****ed up eye as he was coming on and turning the tide.

cotto has a history of this ****, everyone points it out cause its obvious, Diaz degree doesn't mean **** to me a small fighter at 154 doesn't come in with love handles and not in shape for a big fight like he did in trout.

watch Pac and Marquez to see what real elite fighter come in when they have a s&c coach.

his conditioning is what seperates him from elite fighters.

You need to stop with the margo **** already...Antonio wasnt going to do **** but get stopped . Cotto landed more shots in the last round than at any other point of that fight. He moved extremely well and at a high intensity, not many fighters can keep that up constantly.

He looked slow in the Trout fight from beginning to end. In terms of Margarito:

    This is correct.

Cotto may have stamina problems, but it's not because he has no S&C coach. If you think he needs a new one, that's different, but both Diaz and Landman work on his strength and conditioning. Manny and Floyd have abnormal conditioning, Cotto does not seem to have the same endless capacity.

^ It's indicative of his training tho. He's not training himself to go a hard 12 rounds. His stamina was better at 147, even though it wasn't perfect there either.

But he's definitely had clear stamina issues at 154. He gassed after Round 8 against Floyd. He gassed against Trout. I believe he gassed against Margarito towards the end , and was getting beat up a bit.

Honestly i just dont think Cotto is that motivated to fight anymore. He's fighting for paychecks imo.

I'm pretty sure he has one. Phil landman? He's workouts just seem to lack intensity and it translates into his fights. Especially late in fights.
