Here's a thought for Danny Green; instead of scouring retirement homes in the States looking for opponents why doesn't he fight a genuine cruiserweight - you know somebody approaching the 200lb limit who isn't a) shot to pieces b) a bum. After all, he is the IBO 'Cruiserweight' world champion. To win the IBO title he fought a guy called Julio Cesar Dominguez. Dominguez was ranked 66th (that's sixty-sixth), in the IBO's own rankings. And yet he got to fight for a vacant 'world' title against an inactive light-heavyweight. Furthermore Dominguez himself weighed in at 181 and a half pounds himself, and had been knocked out at light heavyweight by Aleksy Kuziemski, who has four knockout wins from 17 victories, & is the definition of feather fisted. Green then proceeded to knock out Roy Jones's corpse, in admittedly brutal fashion, and suddenly he believes he has the right to earn parity with fighters who have achieved infinitely more than him. Why doesn't he fight a top twenty cruiserweight? Is it because he's a light-heavy masquerading as a world champion at a weight division above, holding a title that nobody really wants and is physically unable to compete in the weight division he claims to compete within? His best assests, his power & durability would be nullified by any half decent cruiserweight. The fact is he can still make 175, but he couldn't beat any of the belt holders there & he certainly couldn't beat any of the top ten at 200lbs.
Why isn't Bernard making $3-4 Million every fight? Because he isn't a draw himself. Didn't he make $200k fighting Ornelas? Green, because of the money he generates in Australia through PPV, can ask for a large slice of the pie because he is the one bringing a lot of it to the table.
Care to address any of the points i've made? But you can't can you? Because Danny green is a light heavy chasing pensioners & corpses, and isn't a genuine world champ.
He isn't a genuine cruiserweight for one, so its easy to see why he isn't in a hurry to fight a legit 200 pounder.
Simple, doesn't want to have many more fights and just wants big name opponents, and cash(thats what he has said on tv in oz)
I wouldn't call him a bum, not an elite fighter by any means. But he got a strap at 168, 175 and a token belt at cruiser. So, no. not a bum.
