Why doesn't Danny Green fight a genuine cruiserweight?

Cuz he isn't a geuine CW himself.

    He's a blown up lightheavy.

  2. Most people don't realize he was in retirement a year and half ago. Might sound sad for you people who don't know or respect him but I don't think main intentions of a comeback were to test his body against uproven hardmen of the world, but rather go for the fights to cash up on money and fame.

He is like Hopkins in that he just wants to make the most of whatever he has left. How can you not respect that?

I well aware he isn't a genuine cruiserweight; but he is more than happy to parade himself as a 'three' weight world champ, so as the IBO cruiserweight world champion surely he should be willing to entertain the idea of fighting a 200lb fighter for his title.

Again, i'm aware Green retired pretty much immediately after outpointing a lethargic Drews for the WBA 175lb title, spouting some bollocks about wanting to 'retire on top', and retiring with his 'dignity and respect in tact'.
Nothing to do with the fact that his mandatory Garay would've beaten him comfortably then.
And as regards all this talk about cashing in whilst his stock is high, whatever happened to trying to achieve something of substance in the sport.
As it is all he has on his resume is the aforementioned win over Drews, and that win over Jones Jr. He's not like Hopkins at all; Hopkins has earnt his right to take some gimme fights at the back end of a great career - Green should focus on building something approaching a decent resume.

yeah by beating stipe drews whose resume is full of bums except for briggs.he beat niekerk rated 121 in the world who like rrj had lost 5 of his last ten.then dominguez rated 50 in the world who had won only 4 of his last 9.hardly stellar names.

The IBO is a farce when they sanction cruiserweight title fights with 175 lb fighters in Green and Dominguez who weigh approx 180 lb to make it look legit and both aren't rated highly by the damn organisation. Then the IBO has the hide to sanction Greens first defense of his cruiserweight title against another 175 lb fighter in Roy Jones. Once again both fighters weigh-in slightly over the 175 lb limit at 179 and 179.5 lbs to make the fight look legit. Completely farcical situation.
I'm sick and tired of Green's BS talk regarding him being a 3 weight world champion. **** OFF.

Exactly. As far as i'm concerned Green was a belt holder at 175lbs. Nothing more.

    . Like the color.

Yeah, never heard of the fella either.

  11. Lethargic was a kind description of Drews performance that night, he was a god damn coward :rofl

As for 'retiring on top', thats up to ones own interpretation as to what he meant by that. He was an Australian fighter certainly not trying to appeal to international audience and was praised over here for his win as an Australian fighter. Our sports community knows next to nothing about boxing, as is evident by our so called stars but thats life. :barf

In regards to trying to achieve something of substance to the sport, well he KOed Roy Jones Jr. I mean thats pretty good, now he wants to take up an oppurtunity against Roy Jones Jr planned challanger. Thats how the game works. Sure Green might be under qualified compared to Hopkins normal level competitors but he's earned the right to challange him atleast, while capturing the imagination of the world and HBO while doing it.

He's like a Rocky story come true, almost like James Braddock vs Max Baer. You can't say he isn't a good bloke, the cameras love him.

Seriously, i'd of thought he would've wanted to achieve more in his career than decimating a shot ATG who had already been stopped twice in similarly brutal fashion.

  13. It was an oppurtunity of a lifetime to be able to take on RJJ, no one could believe their ears who gave a **** around here.
RJJ coming to Australia to fight Danny. Unbelievable.

And lets be honest, RJJ still had fight left in him, he was the **** again in every ones eyes after the jeff lacy fight, which everyone now seems to forget. quadruple left hooks, dancing all over the place. Great fitness, people were saying it was like having the old RJJ back.

So he takes on an unknown (to everyone else) and Green came up with a result any fighter could only dream of, took the risky oppurtunity of a lifetime and siezed.

I hope HBO picks up Bernard Hopkins because I see a good story and potential refreshment to the sport. Green has a right to fight bernard no matter what any you say, and as the roy fight showed us nothing is impossible.

Ive said all along that Danny Green isn't worthy of the name he thinks he has, he beats a shot Roy Jones and all of a sudden he thinks hes sombody,

Get him in there with Adamek or Cunningham lets see how long he lasts, my advice to hhim would be cash in and get out as quick as you can before you get exposed and embarrased

  15. They said the same thing about Cinderella Man and davies what does he have to lose? He's already lost to worse fighters (Mundine)
