Your not making much sense but i'll go through a couple of your points. First of all you said "He won that IBO title on the same night Jones Jr beat Lacy; so at the point when he made the conscious decision to try and coax Jones Jr into fighting him" Not true at all, Danny and rjj had been in discussions for 8 months before they fought. Roy told Danny to get himself a belt at cruiserweight and he will come to Australia to fight him because its the only weight class he hasn't held a belt in. I'll also add that Danny and Roy did a press conference in Australia 2 months before there double header saying if they both win their upcoming fights then they will fight for Dannys title next. I can't agree with your next comment either. "Jones's best win in 5 years was a blown up inactive welterweight." I think most people would agree he looked very impressive against Lacy and that would be his best win in the last 5 years. I'm not really sure how you come up with this conclusion "So you've just admitted Danny Green was chasing an old man with no credible victories in five years" if roy was so old and washed up with no decent victories in 5 years why was Danny a 3-1 underdog in the fight? My guess is ignorant fans like yourself thought Danny had no chance because he isn't a yank and isn't a p4p star:hey I should be thanking guys like you who made Danny such good odds. So feel free to talk about Danny having no chance against a "living legend" because the odds should be better this time and i can't wait to cash in bigtime AGAIN!:hammertime
Still cracks me up....when they asked hopkins after his last fight about green knocking out jones in australia....he said "that's why I don't fight in europe" or something along those lines... instant classic...
You seem a little confused. At the time Green & Jones jr were negotiating the conditions of their proposed bout, Jones Jr had yet to face Lacy. To use your own words, the fight had been in discussion 'for eight months' prior to a) Jones beating Lacy b) Green winning the IBO title The point you misunderstood, was that of the timing of Green's conscious decision to fight Jones Jr. He didn't decide to fight Jones Jr the night he won the IBO title did he? It was eight months prior to that. So at the point when Green made the conscious decision to lure Jones Jr into the ring, Jones Jr was an old man with no credible wins in 5 years. Fact. Or is Danny Green some sort of seer/psychic? Did he know that Jones Jr was going to put a clinic on an even more shot fighter than himself, that would get all the fanboys kidding themselves that Jones Jr was back to his best? So why was Green so intent on getting Jones Jr in the ring, as opposed to a more credible opponent i.e Dawson, Pascal, the Clouds/Woods winner etc. We all know the answer don't we? That Green is more interested in cash than actually trying to achieve something of substance. I don't begrudge fighters who've actually tested themselves cashing out at the back end of their careers, but what has Green actually achieved in his career? And don't give me that 'three' weight world champion bull****. If you think beating the IBO's sixty-sixth ranked cruiser, Julio Cesar Dominguez, a chinny blown up light heavyweight, makes Danny Green a cruiserweight world champion, well ... I don't what to say. As far as i'm concerned Green won a title at 175lb. And he retired before he defended it against a worthy, danerous opponent (Garay). I'm not going to acknowledge his 'interim' strap at 168lb either, because if I did, i'd also have to acknowledge the right of such luminaries as Mario Veit & Sebastian Zbik to be recognised as legit world champs. Which their not. In summary Danny Green. Average fighter. Won a strap at 175lb. Chose $ over legacy. That's it.
although shity what cruiser can he make as much money as fighting hopkins holiefield or jones fighting cunninham godfery dawson would make more sense the latter makes unfourtanatly more dollars
Again - whatever happened to trying to achieve something in the sport? I'd have no problem with Green if he'd won a title, defended it a few times in some good fights & then decided to cash out. But what's he got to show for his career? A good win over Drews. I'll give him credit for that. And then what? A win over a shot Jones Jr. A Dq loss to Beyer. Another loss to Beyer. A loss to Mundine when 'weight drained'. Two wins over Jason De Lisle? Please. The thing is Green only stands to gain financially from the Hopkins fight. Hopkins is nearly 45; he's bound to age sooner or later & he can't keep competing at the level he has been for the past 15 years. What if Green is the man who catches him when he slips? Do you think anybodies going to give him credit for beating a 45 year old? He's being obscenely opportunistic in his pursuit of Hopkins. He's hoping to be the one who catches Hopkins at the right time. And if he looses, you can imagine what **** people are going to give him. Green should drop his bogus title & get down to 175lb and fight some names there. No names at 175 as big as Hopkins, & not as much cash involved, but surely he's made enough money from the Jones Jr fight. He should stop chasing pensioners like Hopkins & Holyfield, and stop pretending to be a cruiserweight.
ON one hand your having a dig at Danny because he has no big names on his resume but then you want to critisize Danny for chasing a big name and p4p ranked number 4 in Hopkinsatsch As for this comment "What if Green is the man who catches him when he slips? Do you think anybodies going to give him credit for beating a 45 year old" I'd say if he beats Hopkins he will get his fair share of credit and he will also line himself up for another big fight. Lets not forget bhop destroyed Pavlic just over a year ago and even though pavlic is way overrated hype job it was still impressive the way bhop exposed him in every area:deal
