Why doesn't David Haye fight Briggs earlier than September?

If he fights Briggs any earlier then it's a big wait before any possibility of a fight with Joshua.

This means he would have to step up and fight someone reasonable in the division which comes with risks Haye is not interested in.

Haye normally fights like once a year. Give him a break.

He doesn't need 4 months, the promoters do. It's called PRIZEfighting, not "behind the gas station" fighting.

Briggs would be ready to go 6 weeks from now.

Haye is only a joker . He's not going anywhere above the level he's at.

He's waiting for Briggs to get old and lose a step.

Why is he fighting Briggs at all?

Haye should fight Wilder for the WBC title. That will get him a title shot with Joshua faster than any of these bouts would.

It's clear that haye is trying to prolong the inevitable.

It will be funny to see old man Briggs stalk and disturb haye for the next 4 months, storm into training camps, interrupt his dinner dates at classy restaurants, **** block him in the clubs and intervene in his family bbqs,
