Why doesn't GGG impress me?

He has a lot of power but he can also take a punch. He is an all around good fighter to be honest (very good)... good jab, speed, footwork, body attack, work rate, stamina. He really does all things well.

At the 2004 Olympic Games he won a silver medal in the MW/165 Lb. division, he beat Anthony Dirrell among others. 5'10 1/2" with a 70" reach and very solid.

As a pro he is 35-0 (32) overall and 17-0 (17) in MW World title fights. He has been a world title holder since August of 2010. He holds the IBF, WBA (Super), Interim WBC, and IBO MW world title belts. If the winner of Alvarez vs. Khan doesn't fight him he will become the recognized WBC Champ, The Ring Magazine Champ, and the Lineal MW Champ. He has beat Kassim Ouma KO10, Gabriel Rosada KO7, Matthew Macklin KO3, Curtis Stevens KO8, Osumanu Adama KO7, Daniel Geale KO3, Marco Rubio KO2, Martin Murray KO11, Willie Monroe Jr. KO6, David Lemieux KO8, and Dominic Wade KO2.

He has wanted to fight Alvarez for a while but Alvarez wants to do it at 155. Daniel Jacobs (WBA Champ) and Billy Joe Saunders (WBO Champ) are legit opponents for Golovkin. Even fights with Chris Eubank Jr. or Andy Lee might be decent. Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout would probably put up better fights than a lot of people have. Peter Quillin needs to beat someone decent before he gets a shot. What else can he do?

 

It could end up just like your gut feeling. At this GGG needs to start fighting opponents worthy of something or he will end up a bust himself.
