Thats why Philly sports teams are cursed. The Phillies, 76ers, and Eagles will never win crap because of the Balboa statue that they should have given to Joe Frazier. :yep

You're 100% correct. We do deserve a championship(we haven't had one in a major sport since 1983). And we will get one in February of 2008 when the Eagles raise that Lombardi trophy. As far as why Rocky has a statue in this city and not Joe Fraizer? I have always asked myself this same question. I think it's because this city has a complex. Philadelphia is a big city, however a lot of people just think of it as a stop between New York and D.C. Rocky put Philadelphia in the spotlight. When people think of Rocky they think of Philly. Philadelphians relish the attention and therefore Rocky is revered. Personally, I think it's ridiculous that this city is so in love with a fictional character.

Probaly because they worship a fictional character more than they do a real fighter. Philly is a bunch of ****ed up fans who don't deserve a championship.

Like I said, I live down the street. It's a 2 or 3 story building.

    As of October 2006:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/18/sports/othersports/18frazier.html?ex=1318824000&en=a3509c26258f5380&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss

And you are right, the gym itself is closed.

**** you buddy, the hell we don't desrve a championship(I'll admit though, the fans here are pretty ****ed up). I've gone my whole life without seeing one of my teams win it all, just becasue a bunch of people here worship Rocky, doesn't mean we don't derserve championship. It's so fustrating. We have 4 ****in teams. The law of averages would say we should've won at least 1 championship in the last 24 years. The Phillies in 93 and the Eagles in 04 should've definately got the job done.

  9. it annoys me a little, especially when they give Ali a ****in museum. And for what? sure he was one of the best ever, but frazier helped make him what he is. If frazier had made a stand about the war, he would just be labelled as another uppity ass ******, not a hero. So yeah when someone like him is just forgot about its a bit of a **** take.

Rocky Balboa fought 81 times finishing with a record of 57-23-1 (51 KO's). He made an amazing comeback attempt at 61 years old and gave the current heavyweight champion Mason Dixon hell after years of being away from the ring!!!! Who is going to compete with that????? We need a statue of Joe who?

Just check Rocky's credentials for yourself!
