Look for a fight against Anthony Peterson?

He's ranked, American, will box and fight, and is a winnable fight that would be competitive for Murray and get him experience against a borderline world-class fighter. Plus, Showtime might be interested in showing it.

    Thoughts?

Murray would get beat and for little reward. Stupid move for a guy who's very inactive and on a diet of domestic level opponents and some below plus he doesn't have a strap, which is the only reason we would take the risk of fighting the likes of Anthony Peterson.

    1) they could not afford to get him over
    2) he would lose

when has Murray ever shown signs of being remotley world class??

purse bids are due for his next euro defence so thats what hes got lined up for the rest of the year. from there he should try and defend the ebu against fighters ranked by the WBC and WBO.

murray should fight mitchell, a good win there and he could fight katsidas in a big fight at home. if he looses its better for him to stay at euro level, as hes up against it with katsidas anyhow.

Can't see Frank letting Mitchell fight Murray, I feel for Murray he is not an amazing fighter but he is very good and Frank won't risk Mitchell with him, Murray doesn't sell tickets he is not known I suppose Frank coule maybe look at rights if Murray beats Mitchell, but Mitchell will be eased back in the next 12 months build his confidence and hopefully another world title shot in the next 12-18 months.

He's too busy in the gym, he's never out of it, leave him be.

But Peterson would hammer him, he's different class, and has mixed with better opposition. Its a high risk low reward fight.

Haven't seen Peterson against anyone especially good. Journeymen mostly. Think Murray would make a good case for a win against him.

Frank will get mitchell to sort his **** out and have a couple of fights and fight for a title and possibly catch katsidis on the decline or after a loss for a rematch...

Murray has been offered big fights. He turned them down. He was offered Prescott and some unbeatan american. He'd rather fight bums.

Peterson would be a great fight for Murray. The usual accepted wisdom is that is it too risky with low reward, but if Murray wants to be considered a world class fighter then he needs to test himself against guys like Peterson.

With the rep he has built and the fat man in his corner, Murray is never gonna have the cards stacked in his favour, I think he should just go for it now, find the least slick world class fighter and go for it.

Boxing is just disfunctional. Too many fighters are just trying to take short cuts to the first belt they can get and duck competitive fights that come their way. These guys like Murray that are on the cusp of world class fights need to take fights like Peterson to pass the acid test to prove to themselves that when they get a title shot that they are worth it. And if they win it they know they have beaten quality on the way up and are not pissing themselves when the names in the division want a shot.
