Why doesn't Joshua get the credit for avenging his losses that Lewis does?

Not really a fan of Joshua but i've noticed everyone waxes lyrical about how Lennox Lewis only lost twice, and that he avenged both of the losses, and beat everyone he ever faced.

The same is true for Joshua. I'd say Andy Ruiz is fairly comperable to Rahman and Mcall. I'd say they are similar level opponents he lost to. Ruiz arguably beat Parker. I think Ruiz beats both Rahman and Mcall to be honest.

Why doesn't Joshua get credit for this?

Well, I like Joshua, but Lewis got his bell rung in his defeats, whereas Joshua really looked like he just gave up. I am not saying that he did, but it was a bad look.

Also, at least for McCall, he was young and it was dodgy. A lot of us felt he was taking back something that he did not cleanly lose (up as six and wanted to go).Joshua was a massive favorite and, well, it was a bad look.

Finally, Ruiz came in at Dustin Nichols levels of obesity. As there are those who felt that Lewis never lost against McCall, there are those who felt Joshua did not really have to take his title back.

I like Joshua, but he has to do his time in the wilderness.

Lewis neglecting his training to do Oceans and hang out with George Clooney and then getting sparked by Rahman was a bad look as well. People still gave him massive plaudits for winning the rematch when, like Joshua, he shouldn't have got beat in the first place

Yeah, you have a point here. I was shocked. I never would have thought Rahman was going to beat him with a baseball bat.

It has to be the way AJ loss vs Lennox being KO’d cold with one shot and the way they won their rematches.. Many left the Lewis fight thinking he caught with a lucky punch and also wasn’t focused on the fight.. Many left Joshua-Ruiz 1 thinking AJ is finished and doesn’t have heart.. Also Lewis went and KO’d Rahman leaving no doubt while AJ played it safe with an out of shape Ruiz..

 The McCall that stopped Lewis, would have wiped his arse with Ruiz. Rahman likely beats Ruiz as well.

Because AJ didn't beat Ruiz impressively. He came to win not came to fight. That's why.

Simple fact is, Lewis' career is over so we can look back at his fights with McCall and Rahman and see that they were just blips on an otherwise spotless record. Joshua's career is still ongoing so we're yet to see if his loss to Ruiz is really indicative of anything

Avenging a loss by knocking out Rahman cold was impressive. Joshua avenging on his bike for 12 straight rounds against ruiz not so impressive

    I have to disagree
Nearly everybody said that he was crazy to take that 2nd fight and that if he tried to box he would eventually get tagged
To fight that fight in the way he did showed immense discipline and a fundamental rework of his boxing style
I, like anyone, love a good tear up but cannot help but admire the way they trained for and effectively neutralised everything Ruiz could bring
The fact that Ruiz came in (even more) obese isn't AJ's fault - he can only fight who is in front of him
It was a total shut out plain and simple
Its boxing - he boxed the perfect fight to guarantee the win
What I find interesting is the double standards shown when people laud Fury for boxing and moving vs Klitschko but apparently cannot do the same re AJ v Ruiz 2
Klitschko is a proven better fighter than Ruiz sure, but the truth is AJ beat VK in a slugfest and didn't have to box/move to win
I want to see AJ and Fury as I believe it will be intriguing - I like both fighters for what they bring - I am sure that Fury wont try bang out AJ and I am also sure that AJ will have problems getting to Fury
    Will be a real chessmatch

Probably the manner in which the victories happened. Lewis knocked Rahman out wheras AJ outpointed Ruiz. AJs performance rubbed many 'boxing fans' the wrong way.

Yes but nothing is said of Lewis victory over McCall. Lewis didn't beat him McCall quite literally quit

Joshua wasn't that impressive in winning the rematch, fair enough he got the job done but you always thought if he planted his feet he'd be in trouble again, it left doubt about his heart and chin.
