Why doesn't Joshua get the credit for avenging his losses that Lewis does?

I thought the referee was right.

I'm not convinced by Joshua. Physically, he looks the part, he's a very nice bloke and presents a good image for the sport but that doesn't make him a great fighter.

I've never considered Lewis to be one of the all-time great heavyweights.
Yes, he avenged both his defeats and beat every one of his opponents but I never felt his performances had the mark of greatness.

I also think an all-time great heavyweight with a two stone weight advantage would stop an aging former cruiserweight.

Joshua put on a masterclass in boxing off the backfoot, schooled the smaller man with zero holding. GGG should take notes.

 

I dont think Lennox was given credit for coming back I think it was a case that after he come back and done the job so well I think we all knew the losses came from being complacent. Whereas Joshua actually got beaten up then came back and beat an out of shape guy on points. However saying this fair play to Joshua he showed he is dedicated to learn and show different skills. But yes I think it's that Lennox showed every person he shared a ring with he had the beating of them whereas joshua had 4 rounds of getting beaten up pretty bad which Lennox never did

 

Joshua has shown so much weakness that Lewis never showed

Not least he has QUIT in a fight, that takes SOME overcoming in the eyes of fight fans. And it will be more than Joshua is capable of. He would need to go on a Klitschko like decade long reign looking unbeatable to erase the memory of that.

 

They should both be criticised.
But Joshua more.
Why?
Because he was marketed as a wrecking ball then got stopped by a little fat fake HW who was never known as a big puncher. He HAD to wreck Ruiz in the rematch, in the US, to even somewhat repair that. Instead they wormed the match over to Matchroom controlled territory and completely changed Joshua's style to get a safe win. Fighting defensively against the MUCH smaller and less powerful fighter was disgraceful under the circumstances ... if you want to be true to the 'wrecking ball brand'. Don't forget this was the narrative they used to pretend Joshua was more worthy than Fury, that he was an excitement machine destroyer. They then spun his defensive rematch as 'versatility'. The truth is his rematch was cowardly in the context of the sport and the circumstances.

Aside from that, I think AJ gets full credit for coming back and adjusting his style to win.

 

Lewis took roughly 3 years to avenge his first loss ,so I’m sure a movie cameo is just an excuse,it’s not like they had to do days of filming for a brief ring walk because I know a little about cinema and that took best a half day to shoot if that since there was not even dialogue.

Anyway much more pressure was on AJ to get the win and many thought he would lose even if they lie about that where Lewis was seen as a guy going into both rematches as the heavy favorite. People don’t give AJ as much credit because he’s that good and made it look easy so many viewed it as running who don’t know boxing .
