Why doesn't Pac go to the body as much now? I think he should vs Clottey

If you re-watch all of the Pac-Morales fights, Pac went to the body a lot more then than he has in his recent fights.

Do you think that was because Roach had identified Morales as being particularly susceptible to bodyshots?

Or do you think Pac just goes to the body less now because his style is based more around constant movement and never standing flat-footed maybe?

The way Clottey uses the high peek-a-boo guard, his body will be crying out for some serious attention.

Will Pac be going to the body more in this fight than he has since Morales?

Steroids rotted the part of his brain that remind him to throw body shots.

And although it would seem as though his high guard exposes his body, it really isn't that simple. And if Pac takes more of a flat-footed approach to his offensive plan, he may leave himself in the pocket a split second too long on a few occassions.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Why do you even post?

Dont you have more productive things to do with your past time? :patsch

As for Pacquiao not throwing to the body as much, I don't know if its true, he really did throw to the body much against DLH.

Clottey's got big elbows. Its hard to break through that. Pac, being the smaller guy will be throwing a LOT of body shots.

  7. I think we'll see him go to the body more in this fight.

I notice he likes to throw a right cross to the body after a jab, then follow it with a straight left. He did this numerous times in the cotto fight back to back. Same move everytime.

Then he will be forced to fight from a more flat-footed stance. And if he does that, it may possibly hinder his ability to move as quickly in and out of the pocket.

This is interesting but Freddie Roach already identified Clottey's body as untested and said they're targeting it, someone linked the interview on this site- don't remember which thread.

I'm not sure really about whether Manny neglects the body, he mixes things up pretty well but by far he's most effective upstairs.

What are your thoughts on Clottey's body, personally I'd be suprised if he is vulnerable there I'd guess it's no less solid than his chin but it'll be interesting to see if Manny has any success there...

You may have a good reason why he dont,
I think he could end fights much sooner if he did

Frankly he hasn't had to. I think its part of a strategy that Roach has employed revolving around constant movement. His hand speed and foot speed has been good enough that he's able to dart in and round and throw rapid fire combinations. He will occasionally switch to the body for good measure but I think its more of strategic that utilizes his speed.

Usually, when you're fighting a guy your height, in boxing, you have to bend your knees a lot to get in a body punch with a jab. Pac being the smaller guy, won't have to do this. Therefore he won't be losing his mobility, IMO.

That high guard will really be tough to break through.

    No ****

If Clottey can rough Pac up good enough, can take his best shots, make size advantage count and do enough damage I can see Pacs corner quitting after 9 or 10 rounds. It's a big if though, I see either a 10 or 12 round UD or bs stoppage in Pac's favor.

He went to the body a lot more in the lower weights. A ton against Barrera, Morales, Ledwaba, etc.

Going up in weight, Roach probably had Pac go less to the body so that Pac could protect his own head more, because throwing body shots opens you up quite a bit more.
