Why Doesn't Somebody Teach Ryan Garcia To Block Punches?

    Where did it all go wrong for this young fighter? Still has plenty of time to improve and get better. Why doesn't somebody put him in front of a screen and make him watch Dmitry Bivol fight Canelo Alvarez until he can no longer open his eyes. And see that the idea is to take punches on the arms and gloves and not to your own goddamn chin.

    Keep your frigging hands up and chin tucked. How does a guy make it to this level of boxing and not understand that you need to block incoming punches and not leave your chin hanging out on a platter?

    Because his speed has been the main lynch pin in his game, has been enough to get him by till campbell knocked him down and tank made him quit.

    And arrogance.

    I guess you got to get in a ring and experience it for yourself. That's the only way you can understand how it is to step inside a ring and throw punches.

    Garcia has speed, but he's not Roy Jones Jr. fast. He doesn't have enough speed to completely disregard basic boxing technique. It's why he was stopped and it's why he takes too many flush shots.

    Arrogance, yes men riding the TIKTOK wave. There just arent many great trainers now really. I think Hopkins would be great for him. May be too old though?

    He is s filthy rich
    & while he is not Roy Jones fast
    He is that fast in his mind which was good enough to make him look spectacular against lesser opposition until he ran into the elite vs a Tank.

    He's been found wanting at the fringe level.

    I'm not even sure Tank is an elite fighter. If he is elite, he certainly didn't solidify that status by knocking out Garcia. Because Garcia has HORRIBLE defense. Garcia leaves his hands down and his chin right out in the open. His chin is dangling right there begging to be punched.

    He looked Elite vs Garcia
    Who was one of the new “4 Kings”
    All is left is for the rest to grow a sack & fight each other for us to see the final pecking order…
    Separate the men from the boys etc.

    That's the point. How difficult is it to look elite if your opponent is serving his chin up on a platter. I mean, this really is basic boxing fundamentals and the guy just couldn't do it.

    He looked elite against Barrios & Santa Cruz aswell.
    But this thread is about Ryan & his flaws.

    Tank, Haney, Teofimo, Ryan G & Shakur
    Were all considered Blue Chip Prospects
    & are names mentioned above all others in their weight classes 135-140lb they are considered the boxing elite in those divisions
    With Loma, Josh Talor & progaris relinquishing their elite status due to age & losses.

    so I stand by the statement that Tank is Elite until proven otherwise.

    Garcia has a left hook like Ray Leonard`s and he has speed, but Duran would have destroyed him at lightweight and you can`t compare him to a puncher like Hearns and there`s no way Hagler would have lost to a solid body shot, Garcia was unproven as a king, Leonard beat Duran (even though at 147) he beat Hearns despite being behind on points at the time he stopped Hearns and he beat Hagler who was a legendary middleweight, Garcia is no king.
