Right? And I guess Ricky Hatton was naturally a CW as well posters sometimes make too big a deal out of 'walking around weight', as if that signifies their natural weight class to fight. It's just the fighter badly out of fighting shape
I'm no Crawford fan but why the hell should he want to fight Canelo ? He's already in his, what, 3rd, 4th division? Yes, he's a big 147lber but that doesn't mean he should be in with 168lbers who also happen to be amongst the best fighters in the world! I'd like to see him move to 154 and see what he can do there, but this expectation that he should fight Canelo is ludicrous For context , the weight difference between 147 and 168 is 21lbs (go, maths!) , the same as the difference between 126 and 147... So, should Leigh Wood want to fight Crawford? I know walking around weight and fight night weight etc exceed the weight limit for the divisions, but when did it become customary to expect fighters to jump 3 weight divisions? Even 2 divisions is unreasonable (see GGG-Brook, Canelo-Khan) and just because somebody is near the top of the p4p table doesn't mean they should have to jump weights like that, even if Crawford had spoken about it in the past it's totally unreasonable for fans to expect it. Plus, if (when) Canelo beats him, it's gonna be "couldn't even get past shopworn Canelo smh, he was never that good to begin with" Just why?
Crawford has said he'd be open to facing Canelo. WTF exactly has changed? Is he supposed to repeat this every week??
