Why don't all fighters seek out world class trainers?

Why do fighters stay with their shitty trainers?

Guys like Kessler and Pavlik have **** trainers who get them fit, teach them how to throw a 1-2, but don't seem to do much more.

Or a Williams, just goes out and throws punches, doesn't seem to have a gameplan or a pattern, just throws punches, if they land, they land, if he gets countered, he gets countered, no changes, no adjustments.

So why don't all fighters try to get with world class trainers?

    A) they'd learn more, be taught more and have better plans

    B) They'd be part of a successful stables, success breeds success

    C) World class sparring available, because of the other fighters in the stable

It doesn't make sense not to employ a world class, proven trainer.

Many "world-class" trainers are overrated. Changing trainers can often hurt a fighter. There's nothing like having a guy who knows you in and out in your corner.

There are some very good trainers out there plus some bad ones!! A ' name' trainer doesnt always bring results- eg Manny Steward- Naz , Floyd Mayweather - Ricky Hatton, Tyson - Ronnie Sheilds plus about another dozen. Billy Graham knew how to get the best out of Ricky and what he was capable of, the same applies to Brendan Ingle and Naz. Bringing in a name does not always guarantee results, the boxer and trainer have to gel and be able to work with each others style, strengths and weaknesses and most importantly have trust and respect for each other. Its no point having some million dollar trainer in the corner if the fighter isn't listening. Watching Kevin Mitchell beat Prescott the other day is a perfect example of a trainer working to a boxers strength and the fighter carrying out the plan, a good combination

Sometimes the trainer is not the issue. Sometimes you just lost to the better fighter. I dont like the idea of switching trainers after 1 loss. Its the DLH effect. He would switch trainers after every loss. And he got worse as a result.

unless you're a young fighter starting up like Khan for example i doubt changing trainers will do any good to a fighter.

its the fighter thats makes the trainer and not the other way around , i remember angelo dundee once said , he and manny steward decided to train a kid they both liked (not as a fighter but as a person) the kid lost and that was it , but in his corner were two of the greatest trainers in the world. Most of the time trainers are there to organise sparring and confidence , but the best training any of these fighters gets is in the amatures.

The fighters develop a relationship with their trainers

I memba in the Pavlik - Taylor 1 Countdown, Pavlik talked about his trainer Jack Loew and tht he aint the kind that once he makes it big in boxing he will leave Jack Loew. They see them as family sometimes.

You can't tell if switching trainers will do you good. Manny Steward worked wonders with Lewis and Wlad Klitschko, but ruined Naseem Hamed and Jermain Taylor.

Steward with Hamed was a perfect example. Steward was plain terrible with him. Steward is a one-dimensional trainer. If you dont have a height and reach advantage and a great jab, theres no reason to hire Steward.
