Why don't boxers drink some caffeine before starting boxing?

Chris Algeri eats Avocado-smeared toast before his fights.

Are you crazy? What happens if they need to pee by round 7? Just go?

I won't even drink caffeine if I were to board a plane for a 1 hour flight.

I read somewhere that calzaghe used to drink like 8 cups of coffee before his fights.

You know the saying...."cocaine water.....good for your daughter".

Seriously, I think this is being made a much bigger deal than it really is.
I drink coffee before hitting the gym or competing. I don't experience any serious performance enhancement, nor do I suffer any serious side effects such as major heart palpitations or having to pee in the middle of a fight/spar. I just feel more awake sometimes.

For fukksake it's a fukking coffee. Not crystal meth.

These times I've been on adderall while sparring I've seriously lit the mother ****ers up.

Ive worked really hard on keeping my heart rate down while in the ring, so I never really gassed hard.

I have done some serious coffee before to, and with mixed results.

Because Ginseng works better, without the side effects. I'm a coffee lover by the way.

I would avoid it for fighting (nerves/jitters/you're already pumped) but it's fine and dandy for training as long as you aren't getting it from an energy drink or something.

I've had the same experience with weed except I take a lot more punches.

I take Adderall now and am trying to find a way to work training around it because I don't want that high heartrate gassing me out. Would be nice to have the added focus while training because it's a huge weakness for me. (I legitimately have ADHD and pretty much need Adderall to work and function. I don't use it for the hell of it.)

one of our trainers would give us flat Coca-Cola. Another one preferred generic pedialyte---although that has no caffeine in it, it was just kind of his thing.
