Why Don't Boxers Get Proper Retirements?

And just who is supposed to pay for their retirement???:think, sorry it isn't in the cards..
These guys need to take personal responsibility for themselves and start saving their own loot, it's nobody's job to support these guys when they decide to call it a day, besides most of these guys retire by the time they are 40, that's still young in the real world go get a job..
And why are boxers entitled to a pension, when people that work in construction or hospitals for 15 or 20 years, don't even get a retirement fund? :verysad

They probably don't get the in ring celebration because fighters are so fickle, Sugar ray Leonard retired about 4 times, so did Larry Holmes and George. Foreman.

 

Boxers retire without any money because the promoters rip them off............ask Tyson about Don King for example........

 

Cooney tried to get something like this going years ago, but it never quite caught on for obvious reasons. Something like a "retirement fund" would probably seem a bit nebulous to guys who rarely plan for the future because the present is so precarious for them, due primarily to the nature of their chosen profession.
Think about it, most of these guys grew up with nothing and get the **** kicked out of them for pennies...how likely do you think it is that they'll give up a percentage(even a small one) of their purses to the mysterious retirement fund monster, when most don't even want to pay their taxes? Unlikely...

 

this is one of the worst aspects of the sport, especially for the guys just good enough to be just shy of the top level. not having made enough money to live comfortably in their retirement years, in particular with the physical toll the sport takes.

I feel nothing for the tysons and holyfields who just weren't wise enough to save some of those millions.

 

Nobody put a gun to Tysons head and forced him to stay with that snake King, he should have given it more thought, he should have stayed with Cayton, and kept Rooney as his trainer.
And when you blow your money on pet tigers it can get costly:yep

 

because boxers stay retired sometimes for 30 days....they make decisions based right after a brutal fight or a bad loss...after a few days their mentality changes

 

I'll ask him right after you ask him about divorce settlements, child support, how much money he wasted on probably about 50-100 high-end cars, jewelry that he gave away, the bills for his entourage that traveled with him like a circus, etc.
