Why dont Haye style pullouts come with medical evidence?

    I,, like I think the vast majority of sane boxing fans believe hayes back is genuinely ****ed. However pulling out of such a massive event does let so many people down,,and without some sort of medical 'sicknote' evidence is bound to encourage people who arent keen on him to put it down to cowardice....So why dont they get an independent GP to back up such cases? Maybe they do but no one wants to listen? Maybe its hard for an examiner to tell if its a muscular injury? Still, anyone out there got any other ideas :?

    I think there is almost always something else to the story. For instance, remember when Shannon Briggs delayed his fight with Sultan Ibragimov due to "pneumonia"? Word has it that he was actually KO'd in sparring, and per NYAC rules, he had to sit out for six weeks. I'm not saying that's what has happened to Haye. But, I am saying that the situation is probably more complex than they let on to the public. Especially since, as you mentioned, they don't offer up any medical evidence. You can understand then why it's easy to be cynical in these situations.

    I didnt know that about the Briggs case , and can definetely more than understand all the speculation, but I still feel eveidence would dampen all the nay sayers. I get the impression from your last comment that hayes camp have decided not to give us anything more than the camps word his backs ****ed,,when in the past others actually have presented medical evidence? Maybe reading too much into that but if so it certainly raises doubts in my mind.

    I don't remember ever seeing medical evidence for any situations like this. It may have happened in the past, but it is possible that this is just not a priority of the team.

    Apparently, Haye has a 'lesion in one of his back vertabrae' (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12183_5370039,00.html) .
    I don't doubt the veracity of his injury. As you said yourself, the 'majority of sane boxing fans' have accepted that injuries happen. It's a ***** but that's it. These things happen to all kinds of different athletes, unfortunately. If he was bitching out then why take the fight in the first place? He has nothing to gain from cancelling a fight- especially of this magnitude.

    Just take his word for it would you!!! God, all these people bugging Haye for evidence. Just listen to what he says.

    Because they believe most boxing fans to be educated enough to know you can't pull out with injury without it being confirmed by an adjudicator first. Sadly in this case it looks like they were wrong with regards to the educated part.

    The real reason he pulled out is Setanta wont be able to pay him. They owe £35million to the English premiership footaball league and cant pay the £3million they owe the Scottish premier league and the football teams are at threat of going out of business as a result too.

    Back injuries are very hard to prove which is why many people in auto accidents claim they have back or neck injuries. It's not nec. something that would show up on an x-ray or MRI.
