not at all. i'm white with an american accent and i can speak the language of my parents and grandparents, just like oscar. i wouldn't present myself as someone from italy, though. i like him and i don't think mexicans hate him, but he's as american as i am.
For one thing, the way he conducted himself after beating Chavez and the way he talked all sorts of **** before the fight actually happened. Second, because he ran like a total complacent ***** during the second half of one of the BIGGEST Mexico/Puerto Rico Rivalry fight in his fight with Trinidad. Third, the only sort of Mexicans that tagged along Oscar's nuts was a more younger generation of guys that were dragged along by their infatuated girlfriend's to watch this guy fight, the fact that he was a pretty good fighter in his own right made it okay for the guy's to tag along. All this pissed off the old school Mexican fans because the appeal to this guy was a bit gay.
Well I'm sure Chavez took the fight because he thought he could win, not for the cash right? It was a good fight for both guys. Oscar got a legend on his resume and everyone knows Chavez was past it anyway and it don't take nothing away from his legacy in my eyes.
it's not like a fight between two mexicans will always end in handshakes and happy tears. the dude's a part time mexican.
That doesn't matter. He literally did this ****in' bull**** homo matador dance after stopping him. You don't do that **** to the guy that defines Mexican boxing. (Just watch the closing seconds where he's being a total ass) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VJz6WmPSNo&feature=related[/ame] Raise your hand in victory. Bow and hug the beaten warrior and give him all the accolades he deserves for giving you the fight of your life. Instead this guy conducts himself like a complete assclown. **** this dude.
Let's also not forget what colors he decided to sport when he went to the ring against Chavez as well. Spoke volumes to Mexican fans...
DLH had the opportunity to endeer himself to the Mexicans had he been more respectful himself and conceeded that Chavez was past his best...... .....great fighters of the past have given that courtesy when the torch has been passed to them. Instead for example in the Chavez rematch, DLH is in sheer esctasy afterward jumping up and down, and when Larry Merchant gets a hold of him for the post fight interview, this is word for word DLH's quote..... "I did better than a knockout Larry, I made him quit!" ......and this with sheer esctacy and glee in DLH's face. Take for example Mike Tyson's comportment after knocking out Larry Holmes...... Tyson was sypathetic and came across thanking Holmes and insinuating that its likely a different story against a prime Holmes. Tyson admitted he had not beaten a prime Holmes and called him a great fighter. Most champions comport themselves with dignity when they beat an aging legend. Take Chicanito Hernandez when he beat aging legend Azumah Nelson for Nelson's title...... Chicanito took his newly won title belt, strapped it around Nelson, and insisted Nelson walk out of the ring wearing the title belts...... ......It gives me chills just remembering that moment. It called class!
Dude, you need to take a vacation away from boxing. Don King, that's evil. ****, it was DLH who gave JCC more money in his two fights with him than he had his whole career with Don King.
In reality it was split down the middle. The gangsta types preferred Vargas because they thought that was more real, the regular dudes preferred DLH because that's more real. Who you gonna believe? If both guys were at that age of time of fight and not famous and happened to be in a bar they probably wouldn't even know they other existed, the prep and the g.
