Why don't more fighters nowadays shoulder roll off the ropes?

One of the more difficult styles to master and if you don't master it then don't bother trying

 

Wilder on size.. But some of the big punching CW have a really good punchers chance against the guy. That's the kind of fight he would never take, since the risk completely outweighs the reward.

Because shoulder roll is not enough. Floyd is successful because he didn't employ it persistently. It is just one of the defensive tools in his box. To equate floyd to shoulder roll is inaccurate.

floyd rolls wit the punches better then any one ive seen , but for a while floyd was exclusively using the shoulder roll. then all these other guys started using. broner, berto , some young prospects , then he switched up or the other reason he switched up and just moved alot more is when he went back to his father as a trainer or final reason he fought alot of south paws to end his near the end with vic , gurrero, and pac. didnt use the shoulder roll vs guerrero or pac that much . when he got in the position to roll wit the punches vs pac he got hit pretty hard cuz that doesnt work all that well vs a south paw.

Its prob one of the hardest styles to learn. I find the hardest problem with it is switching from defense to offense. Anyone who tries that **** in the gym gets destroyed. Makes you respect anyone who can do it at a high level
