Why don't more fighters throw deliberate low blows?

You can get away with at least one viscous one without getting a point taken and it will drastically slow down your opponent. Think Trinidad vs Vargas.

I guess it's because not all fighters are assholes or don't wanna taint their reputations.

Not all fighters come from Oakland. They may not have been trained properly.

Well, let's just say it usually gets frowned upon.... (as plenty do, in fact, use it esp when in trouble)

    My first thoughts are like:
    Cotto vs Judah in MSG
    Miranda on Pavlik

    But there's other kinds like:
    Hatton vs Tszyu etc

Then the all out assault types:
    Golota vs Bowe
    Abner Mares vs Agbeko
    And what not

Not everyone has the referee in their back pocket, by delivering brown envolopes and Rolex watches to their hotel room in the run up to the fight.

The sheer volume of low blows that Ward aimed at Kovalev is not something a fighter would do unless he knew beforehand, thats "my" referee.

Also, most men have honour and would not do something to someone, that they would not accept being done to them.

Because they know they'll get it back.

Nobody wants to get hit in the balls.

That's the one thing that I wish prime Pacquiao had done - fight dirtier or at least retaliate. When dudes hit him low, he just does the "raise'em up" give motion and sometimes even offers a glove tap!!!

    I think that's pretty cool.

But on the SECOND low blow, the guy is eating an uppercut to the crown jewels imho.

How can anyone complain about Ward? He barely throws any low punches. Where’s Salido’s name, a guy who threw 40+ deliberate low blows against Lomachenko? With a competent ref he would’ve been disqualified. And some people even think Salido won, which would only be an argument if you scored those illegal punches for Salido. That fight really demonstrated how little integrity and honesty most boxing fans have, and the corruption/incompetence of the pro game. That fight was a disgrace and a stain on the sport of boxing; and it seems the popular narrative is that Salido taught Lomachenko a lesson about the pro game. It’s really unbelievable.
