I think it was on here yesterday, somebody posted that Mayweather said that he didn't get all the hype and big money fights when he was just fighting great fighters. It was only when he started talking trash and talking about being the greatest all the time that he started getting all the attention. Maybe thats it, you can't just be a great fighter, you have to be a shameless self-promoter aswell.
cuzz Cotto's already beaten him...so why should he be the most feared WW in the world, when theres already a WW who's beaten him recently? it don't make sense, the Margarito win was great, but it dont change the fact that he loss to Cotto don't get me wrong, Mosley's dat *****, but all that "the most feared" stuff fighters have been using is bull**** most the time, you ain't the most feared if there are people willing to fight you, and Mosley has people willing to fight him, as did Margorito and Williams
Cotto was the one on the back foot at the end of their fight, and its wasnt because he 'chose' to box, he was made to. However cotto will beat mosley again but it will still be close.
the incosistency in mosley's career has hurt him. In one fight he looks unbeatable, but in the other he looks like a decent fighter. early in his career he looked great, he was a freak at 135, and if he could have continued to make weight he would have unified the division. when he moved up and fought oscar he looked like a machine, nothing could stop him. but after the loss to vernon forrest he wasn't the same fighter for a couple of years. after vernon he got a gift against oscar, then winky was too good for him, he made mosley look awful at times. late in his career he has looked good the magority of the time, he had good wins against vargas and collazo. there was no shame in losing to cotto because the fight could have gone either way. but in the mayorga fight he looked really bad, mayorga controlled the whole fight. he tried to out slug mayorga and he was losing round after round. he got lucky in the 12th as his power saved him. then when you think its all over, he puts on his greatest ever performance against margarito. what mosley needs now is a mega fight. and i don't want to see him against pacquiao because i don't think he would get the credit he deserves for beating him. mosley needs the rematch with cotto, that is the right fight for him.
because his last 5 win's aren't that huge & he is on the tail end of his career.... everyone is waiting for him to fade away just like the rest of the older boxers
no way. cotto is better now than he was that night and mosley is older now then he was that night (obviously). cotto wins again, maybe a wider decision :good
Since the Mosley win, Cotto took the beating of his life against Margarito. Sometimes fighters don't come back well after a beating like that. Mosley always performs better in rematches and with the addition of Richardson in his corner, Mosley stops him next time. We have to see how Cotto does against Clottey first. I think, loaded gloves or not, Margarito may have ruined him.
Mosley could be the most hyped WW in the game if he wasn't scared to take 1 fight and force Floyd and Cotto to fight him, Paul Williams.
Because he's old man. People care about guys that are the future of the division Shane is seen as being well past his best and therfore doesn't get a whole lot of hype
he'd have been a SUPERSTAR if he came around in the 80s. American fighters just aren't marketed and promoted like they were back then. Ever since Tyson II/Don King reign, boxing has been gradually losing ground in the mainstream. America needs a genuine real deal like a Tyson or Ali to explode the sport again. manufactured and protected business fighters like Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather and their mostly lousy handpicked exhibitions damage the sport more than help it. Tiger and Barkley walking out of the handpicked set up farce of floyd-Baldomir "fight" in the 10th round spoke volumes.
Mosley doesn't live up to what they call the hype blasted out of other flamboyant characters and he mostly doesn't fight according to expectations. This is a 100% committed fighter who displays technical mastery, physical gifts such as handspeed and power, toughness and immense fighting heart, and the strategical wisdom experience allows him to carry along, and of course-how could I forget- the class, the cool temper, the sportsmanship. Mosley is a HOT fighter and nobody can expect any less. Just that for some reason people are blinded by some other WWs that are not really any better than him. Shane is Numba 1, no doubts about it!
