I watch old fight DVDs and it makes me wonder why dont they do big fights/superfights anymore at the Hilton in vegas, or Cesars palace anymore? Those arenas always looked really big, and atmospheric and epic for those big fights in the 80s and early 90s. And why does the MGM Grand look so small and shitty these days compared to what i remember it in days gone by?
That big stadium at Caesars was taken down a long time ago, replaced with a hotel tower. They have a smaller venue there now. MGM isn't small and it's a great place to watch a fight.
good. you answered my question. my first thought was " is Caesar's palace even a place anymore?" as far as fight seating goes.
Ah right. I didnt know that. What a shame. The trump Plaza looked good in my fight DVDs aswel. What about the Hilton? MGM is good but it just doesnt look as big and as good as it used to do, maybe its just meatsch
The Hilton was effectively killed off by the Mirage and MGM. They got out of boxing completely for years but now have some smaller cards.
Uh, there's no floor there. Plus I'm not sure it's the best idea to pack 20,000 drunk and rowdy fans into a crumbling ancient building. On a similar note, it would be awesome if they build a huge stadium in the sky and had the fight there.
One more thing...why dont they do outdoor stadium fights during daylight aswel like they used to do. I loved those! Not that im old enough to remember seeing many live
like the guy said Williams-Marg was outdoors, in LA. The reason the fights at Caesars were daylight was b/c Vegas is in the pacific time zone! So if the fight starts at 10pm in the East, it's 7pm in Vegas...daylight! Long gone are the days of ABC's Wide World of Sports with big fights at 4pm. Money talks and that'll never happen again.
