Duran at Lightweight would have f'ing smashed Mayweather.

With respect, Castillo gave Mayweather all he could handle at Lightweight, Duran would have savaged Mayweather.

Leonard was faster amd hit harder tben Mayweather.
    Marcel was tricky and slick.
    Duran beat both.

Duran was better than all of those hall of famers and how many times did he get his ass kicked at 147 or below, Floyd would have a better chance at beating him at 154 though.

I agree but Floyd still nevder beat anyone as good as Leonard and he wouldn`t have thrown or landed as much as Duran did on Ray in Montreal as it would leave him open to Ray`s fast counters.

Durán would beat floyd because durán is highly tolerat to frustration against hard to hit slick oponents, and floyd's foot work is worse than leonards.

    MMMmmmm

    NO.

Now seriously, durán would never win to floyd. (I edit to say 'to an experienced floyd'. Durán would probably beat a young and warrior floyd)

Interesting topic and must weight in.
Duran is easily among the all time p4p greats. Floyd had a great career but he's no Duran. As someone noted above Floyd was leery of fighting prime Pacman. Duran would give Floyd nightmares outside the ring.

Not saying it would be easy but I'd pick Duran over FM all day. Only chance FM would have is in a 12 round fight where Duran is having an off night. In a 15 round bout it would hardly surprise me to see Duran stop FM, and maybe before the 13th round (or in a 12 round fight).

Duran could not deal with the frustration of fighting a slick, not willing to exchange leather leonard.

What do you think that it would happen to his mind fighting the floyd that fought pacman? after 20 minutes of chasing shadows and being counterpunched after every frustrated punch, he would quit and go to look for someone willing to party. That's what would happen.

Imho, it is not durán who is all wrong to floyd, but it is floyd who is totally all wrong to durán. Durán's nightmare, an endless stamina shadow that cannot be punched. ("I would punch his ribs" he has said, "sure, like you did to leonard in leonard II", I would say) I love durán, but....

Honestly though, Floyd is not going to fight Duran the way Ray did in the first fight. He will fight him how Ray fought him in the 2nd and 3rd fights. Some will say Duran made him fight that way, but no he did not. Ray fought that way from the get go. Floyd would fight Duran the way Ray did in the second and third fights. Using his feet to get spacing from Duran and when Duran gets close counter with one or two at a time and move away from Duran and make Duran make moves he is not used to making and then countering and using his speed. Win rounds and see if he can win a decision. I don't think he would use the 3 punch combinations Ray did in the 2nd fight, I think Floyd would be one or two at a time and move out. Floyd never was a guy who wanted tough fights, so if he did have the guts to fight Duran he would not actually fight him on the inside.

Yep, Duran makes people lose all kinds of perspective. Same with Tyson, but for fewer posters.

Duran lost to DeJesus and had a close one with Viruet and they were both inferior to Floyd, so there's to sides to that but that gets ignored.

But that people constantly forget how close Montreal actually was is just crazy. And even crazier is that the rematch is just completely overlooked. I mean, if there's one other fighter that could frustrate Duran like that it would have been Floyd, and possibly Whitaker.

Best part is that I wasn´t even saying that Floyd would win. All I did was make a case for why it wouldn´t have been an easy fight for Duran and some lost their minds(well, almost).
"Floyd vs Duran would have been a really good fight."
"NO! DURAN WOULD HAVE MURDERED HIM. FLOYD WOULD HAVE NEVER FOUGHT HIM!"

I´ve done this before, where I look at fights, break down some sequences between fighter A and B, and then make a case for what would work for fighter C.
"No! Fighter A beat B so it doesn´t matter what B did" (Duran being tied up by Palomino and having little effectiveness on the inside)

Style wise, Duran beats Floyd. Duran is one of the greatest pressure fighters ever lived and he has incredibly boxing skills and stamina to back up that pressure.

Floyd has always struggled with pressure fighters. Look at the Castillo fight. Look at Maidana fights, especially the first one. He shelled up and should have lost that fight in the cards, but he got a favorable decision. Floyd lost the 5 of the first 6 rounds in the first fight against Maidana.

Floyd would shell up against Duran, but Duran is smart enough to pick him apart on the inside unlike Maidana. He would beat Floyd 8-4 or 9-3. If it's a 15 round fight, probably 10-5, with a possibility of a late TKO.
