If you have a strong well-chiselled technique already, adding extra lean muscle mass without bulking out too far can result in a harder punch. Why do you think boxers will do some minor forms of weight training. Muscle increases power in general with the correct technique.
Lol, he doesn't. He can say that and the continue to promote Kid Galahad, Seldin and Whyte, who have served bans, then get Povetkin over here on AJ's card. He's a massive hypocrite
AJ has literally replaced every drop of blood in his body with anabolic steroids. That's a scientific fact. By Hearn's logic, we should all be suspicious of of AJ and looking to cart the big pleb off to prison.
I guess what I’m disputing is the “10% / coma” comment. A 10% gain, when you’re already at the top, is huge. And I’m not aware of any fighter being put into a coma from one punch (maybe you’re not referring to just one punch though). In order for a fighter to take gear and increase strength, they must lift weights. And this will pretty much always make them gain weight and thereby go up at least one class. I’m honestly not sure of the effects of steroids on boxers. On the one hand you and I both agree that many fighters are taking them, but otoh, it’s not like we’re watching a bizarre golden age of boxing where fighters are throwing more punches per round and knockouts are more frequent (at least I don’t see it). In baseball, track and field, cycling, tennis etc we see those athletes break records on a regular basis. Granted, boxing is more difficult to track like that but still. Boxers lift weights now, because like us, there’s some Adonis complex going on, there is some health benefits to it and they no longer fight as often so they must do something. Also, the strength and conditioning coach is usually code word for dealer.
