Keep telling yourself that. All you Ward fans have been sounding ultra defensive lately, almost like you're overcompensating.

The Kovalev beat down is Wards last fight of 3 in the contract.

HBO will need to pay up if they want Ward.
    (Get it)

It was just a ploy to get HBO to approve the Brand fight. Pretend to negotiate with a better opponent, claim it fell through and force Brand fight.

Shabranskyy said he would fight anyone at 175 for $150k. That would actually be a Kovalev tune up for Ward. However, that is too risky for a P4P king.

Because he thought he was fighting Russell Brand and he was hoping Katy Perry would show up to boo her ex-husband. It's the only rational answer.

After the ratings Ward-Brand come out, I doubt Ward will be in any type of position to demand anything.

  8. Actually I don't get it. The thread reads why did he target Brand again! Meaning he already went after Brand. So he was trying kill his deal with HBO before it even began on the Cotto undercard? HBO has been patient with Ward in anticipation of a Kovalev showdown. Why would Ward need to posture and why use Brand? Hes neither a LHW a cash cow, ranked, and does not fight anything like Kovalev.

My God can you imagine how awful the undercard of Canelo-Cotto had of been if Ward-Brand and Rigo-Francisco had both been on it.:dead:dead

I don't think that will matter much in the event he does beat Kovalev.

Actually I think that Ward wants to jump ship from HBO to Showtime because quite frankly I think that he loathes Max Kellerman and Lampley.

Nathan Cleverly, Erik Skoglund (25-0, 11 KO) and some Russian bum who's name I cant recall. That's just of the top of my head.

But if he doesn't I doubt HBO will be eager to pay him for another one of his matches ever again. He might end back up on Showtime, its pretty obvious the relationship between HBO and Ward is slowly becoming contentious, especially with Max and Jim taking thinly veiled swipes at him here and there.

Well it depends, I think. A lot of possibilities going into this fight. I think, win or lose, each fighter can benefit considerably from this. But not necessarily.
