Why exactly do people say Haye's chin's so bad?!?

Cos he's British and Americans would rather have a boring Eastern European champion rather than another British champ

It's decent, not terrible and not great. Even Haye his self admitted that if he gets caught right he knows he might be knocked out, Haye still has good movement to avoid that in my opinion.

Doubt it, Haye is getting good recognition in the US and appreciated for his effot to bring excitement to the division.

Because people love to throw the "weak chin" tag on fighters. Most of these kinds of people aren't smart enough to look any deeper than... "Fighter got knocked down, he has a suspect chin"... "fighter was stopped, definitely a glass chin". It's pathetic really. Even after Wlad knocks Haye out we can't just say that Haye has a glass chin.

    :good

:good Like I posted in a related topic... most of these comments are from key board "warriors" that have never been in a real fight their entire lives - except in a pc game  But they're experts on "glass jaws", especially fighters they don't like.

    Right, Widdow.

Our childish faction on this site LOVE to use, and overuse, the china chin/glass jaw nonsense.

Some live for the opportunity to tag that on a fighter who's been knocked down. They seem to LOVE doing that and must giggle with glee when they get their sought after reaction from it.

The way that term is loosely overused is laughable bull****, plain and simple. Its an illustration that this site is overrun with 13 year olds.

His punch resistance wasn't great at cruiserweight so its obviously a concern at heavyweight, even he has tentatively acknowledged as much. The punch resistance gets overly criticised though because people ignore his stamina problem (though the two are obviously linked). When he threw a lot of chat at Wlad it drew a lot of attention to his own strengths and weaknesses, with Wlad obviously hitting like a truck, it was an area that was going to receive a lot of attention.

The bigger problem is his stamina/conditioning, he certainly didn't lose to Carl Thompson all those years ago because of his chin. Whilst he wasn't very dedicated in his earlier days, and has improved greatly (though its possible his dedication could be on the decline again after all this ****ing about), the issue of punch resistance and conditioning clearly influenced his game plan hugely against Valuev. Where he was very tentative about engaging at all, despite being the better man.

to answer your question, people make jokes about David Haye's chin because he isn't the most humble guy in the world and has the type of brash way about himself that people despise. he's a love'em or hate'em sort of character, and those who hate Haye choose to highlight the key incidents where his chin has failed him to disrespect and/or discredit him.

Against 'slightly' harder hitting opponents that is, but his chin isn't too good either... but Haye's chin let him down in the amateurs already, and had a few difficult moments against Mormeck and an over the hill Barrett.

Wlad has been stopped 3 times in how many HW fights? How many HW fights does Haye have?

How many times would Haye have been stopped at HW had Haye fought the 57 HW opponents that Wlad fought?

Haye was never wobbled against Barrett. Barrett caught Haye with a cuffing punch to the back of the head while Haye was square footed and Haye lost his balance and fell on his arse... didn't rattle his senses so hardly indicative of a poor chin.

Against Mock is the only worrying moment for his chin in my book. He was badly weight drained against Mormeck and Mormeck is no powder puff puncher. Thompson was exhaustion more than chin. He doesn't have a good chin but it certainly isn't glass

As another poster has already pointed out Haye goes down through temple shots rather than direct shots to the chin, this points to possible dehydration which could have been a factor down at cruiser. Haye's chin is most likely average, he was unofficially floored by Barrett who recently put Tua on his ass for the 1st time in his career that imo is sufficient evidence to say his chin is most likely average and nothing less.
