This was a brillant example of Floyd's boxing genius in the ring!

 

No doubt. It also shows that his camp studies his opponent's tendencies pretty closely (even though Floyd claims to not watch tape on his opponents, I'm sure Roger or somebody is), to formulate a solid gameplan, which Floyd makes adjustments to during the fight.

I'd love to hear Floyd analyze one of his fights and walk us through what he's thinking and doing inside there. He's one of those fighters who sees things before they happen, who sets traps, etc. Not an easy thing to do at the level he does it.

 

He was using the jab to measure a lot, and he was dominating, but when Ortiz decided not to be stiff and move a little bit, he was able to dodge a few of those single straight punches. Just a few though.

for pac to beat floyd he would have to work twice as hard as he does with the margaritos and cottos. He will have to come forward throwing power shots 3/4 of every round he wants to try to win. He can't back up or floyd will come forward and sharp shoot through his crappy guard and take it to his body which is always open when he covers his big head. When he comes forward he can't lose his balance like he did with a moving target in mosley or may could clip him for a costly knockdown. He has to put his guard up at the end of a barrage pac attack or floyd will weather the storm and make him pay with a floyd combo(one of few occasions floyd would open up). Floyd's new style is a pac killer whether his *******s believe it or not and ortiz was a test dummy. Pac is going to get backed up like with clottey but floyd is going to actually punch on the many openings and take away the southpaw left hand. Pac has a good right but it's too short to get to floyd and pac is going to have to take power off of his shots to land. Even margarito and his slow mongoloid jab gave pac problems early and even his **** defense pac took a few rounds to land at will.

one other thing I noticed in the shane fight is shane could see all pac's punches coming after the knockdown and when he kept range. He still got hit bc his defense is sub par but that is how he survived. If you fight smart, don't exchange and have good reflexes you can pretty much avoid a lot of the pac attack. Having the best defense in boxing will help you avoid serious damage from the rest.

I wonder if pac's old sparring sessions with ortrees was competitive or if pac was backing him up most of the time?
