According to pundits, Mayweather is the anointed one.

When you define the word best in its purest form, it is the top of the heap, the cream of the crop. And in order to be on top, you should have defeated all your opponents that’s at least in the top 5.

Conclusion, Floyd is a good fighter but not the best. When you keep on ducking opponents that can beat you, you cannot even be considered a ‘fighter’. Look at the UFC for instance; these guys are fighters in its purest form. They fight whoever is in their cards and lay it all on the line whoever they’re fighting with. How can you prove you’re the best when you haven’t been fighting with the best of the best. Now, nobody can argue that Pacquiao is one of the best. He has defeated all of the best fighters in the divisions he has been involved. He will not back down on any opponent and gives his all on every fight.

Except for Floyd , who has time and again found every reason on the the book to chicken out . What can make him fight Pacquiao? If he is a ‘real’ fighter, he will accept even a 50/50 share of the purse to prove to us all boxing aficionados that he can ‘really’ fight. Unbeaten means nothing if you’re beating has beens and unproven boxers. I hope he gains enough willpower and enough mojo to see the big picture and be regarded as really a brave champion. Unbeaten means nothing if in the back of your mind, you did not fight against a champion of the caliber of Pacquiao. But to be realistic and truthful, Floyd and Pacquiao may never materialize because a chicken is always a chicken. Take your pick.

I agree. A guy fighting continual useless opponents like Guerrero, Ortiz and Maidana in between degraded versions of Cotto and Canelo can't be the best while simultaneously ducking the real threats.

Does he belong on the list? Yes.

    Top 5? Sure.

Number 1? That ought to go to the guy who's dominating the actual best in his weight range. That would have been Ward for a minute, but he's been inactive.

Right now I'd have it vacant personally and the 2-10 be a mix of Pac, Floyd, Rigo, Ward and the rest.

Just def no Wlad Klitschko. Insulting to my intelligence people rank that overrated fighter up there with actual P4P talent.

His resume is better than everyone else's. His performances, particularly impressive when given the previous statement, are better than everyone else's. He is tied for the record of most divisions holding lineal titles in his career. He is the first fighter in almost a century to hold lineal titles in two separate divisions simultaneously and still holds that distinction actively and is attempting to be the first simultaneous double lineal and unified champ. He has fought top 5 ranked fighters in the division he fought them in dating all the way back to Marquez in '09, who was #2 on the P4P list himself.

If he is not P4P #1 on your personal list, then please direct yourself to the "Log Out" in the top right of your computer screen and slap yourself.

seriously, I've always thought you were one of the best posters on this forum. but lately you've taken a dive...maybe you need time away? I don't know

but the post above isn't what I would come to expect from you

belts are candy in boxing. accrediting them is what I expect biased people like bailey to do because anyone who has won one (and there are many) can always be seen in a good light when you embrace their relevance to the sport...which for the most part should be throwing them in the trash

you're a good poster on here, but don't let over-activity turn you into something else

The way he ducked Berto was disgusting

He put shxt on Guerrero's gloves so Berto would have an allergic reaction

Please explain to me how Pacquiao has fought better opposition!

Here's a prime example of how you guys hate but hold Floyd to a higher standard: Mayweather fights Mosely after his big victories, he's considered old and washed up. Pacquiao fights Mosely after a loss and a draw, but it's a great victory for Pacquiao. So how is Mosely a bad fight for Floyd but a good fight for Pacquiao? Because you hold Floyd to a higher standard and he's expected to fight better opposition than Pacquiao, that's why. You guys keep hating while simultaneously putting him on a pedestal.

Please tell me how Pacquiao has won more division titles yet has less title defenses. Name a welterweight that has a better resume than Floyd right now.

Even the guys people think should P4P #1 instead of Floyd, think Floyd is the best in the world. I think that says more than anything, that he is in his rightful spot at #1.
