When Pacqiuao crushed Ricky Hatton, mauled De La Hoya and battered Cotto, Floyd asked for drugs tests that were over and above standard. He may have had good reason to wonder how such a small man was able to beat naturally bigger men with ease, but the fact is he found a reason or excuse not to fight. In 1973 Muhammad Ali saw George Foreman's utter destruction of two men he had lost to, Joe Frazier and Ken Norton. Ali was past his best and Foreman was at the peak of his powers. How would we view Ali now if he had questioned how George was brushing aside such top fighters with ease and demanded some sort of test be done on Foreman? What would we think if Ali refused the fight and waited for George to decline for 4 years and then fight him? Would we rate Ali's victory over the Foreman of the Lyle fight as highly as his Zaire win? You can paint it however you want to, but that's what Floyd did with Pacqiuao. Faced with similar challenges the two men had completely different reactions. Ali chose to fight, Floyd didn't. I don't care if he's undefeated; Mayweather failed the big test by insisting on one.
The difference is Ali was not Champion anymore and there was few other options for him for a big money fight. Floyd could still make big money without fighting Manny and had a championship. Twenty years from now the record will say Floyd w 12 Manny and the context will be forgotten.
tbes dont hug for dear life and run like *****es from midgets. ali stood in the corner, took all those bombs from foreman. didnt hug for dear life, never ran.
