Why Freddie Roach is Such a Great Coach

Roach is an great offensive trainer, but lets be honest. None of his fighters or the fighters he has created have defense.

He wasn't better than Steward. But way better than Garcia, that is for sure.

Roach best offensive trainer in the game, Virgil Hunter best scientist in the game.

 

Not unless they had it before they got to him....

 

The thread should say, " Who are today's great fight Trainers ?" Freddie's name can't be mentioned until you mention 12 other guys....

 

There are a few really great coaches in boxing and Freddie is definitely one of them. A great trainer like Feddie, Nacho ect. are pliable.... They adjust to their fighters attributes and strengths.... Adding new wrinkles to their game while making subtle adjustments to their flaws but ultimately keeping the natural foundation that brings that fighter his greatest success. Having a chemistry with a multitude of different personalities isn't easy.....you either have it or you don't. Sometimes personalities will never create good synergy but the great trainers seem to have that gift of creating strong bonds with their fighters.

 

Different trainers have different areas they tend to lead their fighters in certain directions. But fighters seek out specific trainers who specialize in certain areas as well. You want defense most seek out someone like Sr or Hunter.....offense, Roach. But all have the ability to improve all areas of your fight game. Its what style you want to polish that will guide those to certain trainer's.
