Why don't all the Froch posters on here want to see him face a legitimate, threatening super middleweight like Lucian Bute or Mikkel Kessler? I hear all this talk about "Bring on Calzaghe, bring on Pavlik, yadda yadda yadda..." The truth is Pavlik is not even a natural super middleweight, and the two times he has moved up in weight he certainly hasn't looked his best. Pavlik and Abraham need to meet, or Abraham needs to move up before Pavlik considers leaving the middleweight division. Joe Calzaghe has been retired for a while now, and has much bigger draws out there than facing a man like Froch (not to mention Froch has about 1/10 of the skill set that Calzaghe has anyway) if he really wants to come out of retirement. Froch is just looking for a big payday against a fighter that isn't physically dangerous (in terms of punching power). Was I impressed with Froch last night? Sort of, and I'm certainly not dismissing him as a good fighter (one thing he has is a LOT of heart), but it you're gonna brag about your boy then you need to have the stones to say he needs to call out a legitimate super middleweight threat instead of wanting to see him fight middleweights and retired fighters.
He could probably meet Chad Dawson if he wanted to as well, or Librado Andrade at super middleweight. There are a lot of names out there.
I would like to see him fight Bute or Kessler, but I wouldn't have a problem with Pavlik whatsoever. I don't buy into this size thing. I'm sure it would be a good mesh of styles since both are slow and defensively lacking. That is going to make for a lot of action.
froch pavlik would be a war. I think if he beats Kessler then he would be no.1 SMW. Kessler is n0.1 for me
Bute was ringside, and Green called him out, but Froch just went into a tirade about calzaghe. Carl also called out Pavlik. Calzaghe would slap Froch senseless. Pavlik would bust him up in the early rounds and put him to sleep in the mid rounds. But I see your point. I have no clue what is up with calling out a middleweight and a retired guy.
Pavlik would be a legitimate opponent, I dont see your point?? I think Froch called him out as he's the biggest name in American boxing in MW/SMW, and thats where the publicity/money is. But I get the feeling Froch is one of those old school fighters who wants to be the best for the sake of being the best, so he would deffo fight Kessler/Bute/Andrade/Hopkins/JC etc given half the chance
sorry last point, anyone get the feeling Hennessy, Froch's promoter, is a bit of a noob? Which puts big superfights in jeopardy
I wish Kessler would put the loud mouthed Froch to sleep. I hate Calzaghe, but there is no way in hell Froch beats him. And as for calling out Pavlik... If Froch wants Pavlik then he better be prepared to go down to 160.
I get your point about Froch making 160, but if Abraham looks bad against Lorenzo like he did against Simon, Arthur's people will not let Pavlik near him. They already said as much. If that happens, it would be the perfect time for KP to move to 168, and poach a title. Froch is precisely the type of fighter that makes Pavlik look like a monster. AA would move up too, and Pavlik/Abraham would happen at 168.
I'd rather see KP/AA at 160 because I'd like to see KP try to unify the belts. If AA jumps up to 168 then I would like to see him give it a go at Kessler. To be honest I've rooted for Kessler ever since the Calzaghe fight, but his lack of desire to fight anyone since Calzaghe has me changing my mind. He needs to fight Bute, Froch, BHop, or a 168lb AA...
It looks like Kessler has a lack of desire, ie Sartison and that other guy he KO in 3, but I feel its his promotional team. It is a shame this is his peak some imbecile is scuppering his progress.
I dont want to hear Pavlik vs Anyone except Arthur Abraham. If Pavlik fights someone else it just proves that he is scared of AA.
