You make it sound like Kelly is a timid counter puncher. He is an offensive beast that will throw 100 punches a round. He has cut back recently and I think 80 is a more realistic average in recent fights. Still, that is a lot of punches at MW. That is why he doesn't have the one punch KO power. He keeps his punches short so he doesn't leave himself open as you noted.

I have at least a hundred fights downloaded to my computer. I watch them, I learn. I'm not always amusing myself with the idiots here, but it does up the post count as an unintended side effect.

Hermit,if im wrong about your allegiances i apologise, but hey dude its like a "brit haters" free for all in here lately.I'm a brit and id like to think a realist when it comes to some of the "overhyped crap" spouted by some of the British press, but i personally think Froch stood out in the face of adversity, both the US and UK press gave him no chance, and even though he and his followers predicted a late KO or TKO he still gets no credit ?

Did I or did I not give him credit in this very thread? But you say Pavlik is over hyped? My pre fight analysis was pretty much dead on. Froch admitted himself that he had to wait for Taylor to gas because he was getting picked clean in the early rounds. Nothing to do with "nerves". When Boo said Bute is more than 16 seconds better than Taylor that was one of the more insightful quips you are going to get. Someone that wasn't gassed would have finished Froch in the final round while he was swinging for the fences knowing he was behind on the cards. At the least, defended themselves better and ESB would be short a good 40 to 50 posting members today. Not quite true, they would still show up in the Haye threads.

Nah, its just Kelly does not have much variety to his attack, he does what he does. He is a 1,2,3 fighter offensively.

He might be active, but his Arsenal is not varied. He only shortened up when he fought Miranda, because he knew he had to push Miranda back.

When he fought Taylor he was not in Taylor's face, he boxed from range and got on the stick and looked for that booming right hand. If he was not doing that he was throwing the left hook to push Taylor onto the right hand.

Lets have it right Froch and Pavlik are exciting, but both are limited fighters. They are very CONSISTENT though.

Haye ? now theres a real bone of contention.I really dont rate the guy Brit or otherwise. He is the very reason why us Brits get such a raw deal.He told everybody how great he was before he'd beaten anyone and even though he may have beaten his opposition at Cruiser,it is and always has been a notoriously weak weight class.Cant make light heavy, but no good at heavy ? Getting back to Froch,i'm not sure anyone at SMW has the tools to expose his so called weaknesse's except maybe Kessler, but maybe one day we will see.Peace:good

Froch is a good fighter showed great heart and power.

him vs Kp would be a war . he seems to have a sturdier chin then Kp but he leaves him self far more open. both have equal power in my eyes.

but i think it would come down to a war of attrition . and this one goes to 50/50 in my eyes there.

by the way Froch needs to stay clear of calling out joe. even on his worst night he would bust up froch IMO. props to froch for doing something Joe did not early in his career. but joe would smashes his ass up.

the only reason why he even thinks of challenging joe is because he thinks joe fire is gone which is partly true. but if he were to bring joe back which he can't he would catch a beating and be almost ruined.

The term Luddite refers to someone who is anti or affraid of technological advancements. So I'm not sure what a FrochLuddite would be, maybe someone who is affraid of getting knocked out by crude and limited technology that has a good chin.

As for the original post in this thread: you are way overstating the importance of many of the factors you mentioned and on other points you are just deranged (like Froch couldn't win a decision in the US). Sure Froch was kinda ballsy taking on an opponant like Taylor but don't get too carried away, not everyone gets to dictate the terms of every fight like De La Hoya.

I agree with most of your post. However, The cobra is not no. 1 and cannot be considered no.1 when Kessler was unified when Carl was still competing at local level boxing.

Kessler is no. 1 and that wont change unless he doesn't box for the next two years or carl beats Kessler.

Someone followed the link? I'm impressed. It also has come into a more general use akin to knuckle dragger as people expand from the original. People hear it used in a derogatory way and the use expands. But it still works here. If you want to consider boxing "the sweet science"....... think about it. :D
