I keep seeing dawson vs wards threads and dawson fans claim he could be drained at 168, which is not a catchweight but a real weight class. Then you have ward fans who say but dawson called him out and says he can make the weight, The correction for both sets of fans is this. Ward should move to 175 he fought there as a amteur did he not? and makes no difference to him, he will be a 2 weight officail champ and hold the wbc in one of the most historic divisions in boxing. beating a prime dawson who is bigger longer and a southpaw will propel him to at least P4P 3 on my list. Instead ive seen him act smug like '' oh he called me out at 168'' then says in another interview that call outs like that are staged and we have been meeting/planning for months.. at 168 this is a ward win no doubt at 175 its 50/50 that's were the legacy will build and history will remember he will get no credit and excuces will flow So ward step up take the fight at 175 and show the world you rule the higher divisons. or be a coward and take the ''sure'' win and every possible adavantage. i thought only manny or floyd could as they have been dominated the game for the last 8 years... :huh
Because regardless people will tune in to see Dawson-Ward in hope that Dawson will turn up like he does at 175 and Ward wont hold on every 3 seconds Sadly we all know the case by now, typical logic sometimes : Molina - not american and holds on for most of the fight, gets trashed. Ward - American holds on for most of the fight, gets praised
Dawson did call him out and say that he would take the fight at 168. Ward called his bluff and accepted. End of story. Dawson could have kept his mouth shut and Ward would have come up to 175 pounds sooner or later. Now he is going to get what is coming to him. Watch what you ask for as you may get it.
