So is DLH. **** Floyd beat him easy LAST year. How many fights has DLH fought? Is he any younger? Has he even trained since last May? Gomez, as limited as he is, at least lives like a fighter and can legitimately call it his profession.

**** no, its as stupid as a fight as can be made.

He fights Gomez, because he is a fairly easy win and because he is a name after being on the contender and defeating a shot Arturo Gatti.

Both Cotto and Mayweather have made excellent decisions. Cotto is going to be in an action packed fight with a legitimate, and popular, conteder on a non ppv event. This fight will raise his profile and set him up for unification bout in July. Cotto is only 27, he has plenty of time to make his mark on the sport. Increasing his popularity, and earning potential is a good move for him at this point. Gomez is the perfect opponent for him at this time. The Cintron/Margo winner awaits in July, he has a mando due in the winter, or he can opt for a money fight with Hoya in December, and then he can make 1 final push at a match with Floyd for spring of 2009.

As far as Money May is concerned, the fight with DLH was his best option. Both Lil Floyd and Cotto had their eyes set on a fight with Hoya. So if Floyd turned down the fight, Cotto would've taken his place. Being that a fight against either Cotto or Hoya are the biggest fights he can make, I feel Floyd made a good decision. Everyone on here is going to whine and cry about Williams, Cintron, and Margo, however the average boxing fan doesn't give a **** about those fighters. Most boxing fans want to see fights between guys they know. That's why the Tito/Jones fight did so well.

At this point in his career, I see no point to Floyd wasting his time with fights against Williams, Cintron, and Margo, when there's bigger fights out there against the likes of Hoya and Cotto. Floyd isn't getting any younger, and he has already achieved enough to considered one of the best the sport has ever seen. So he can make fights against fighters that most boxing fans don't care about; fighters that may or may not even add much to his legacy, or he can cash in on big money fights against guys that fight fans want to see. Mayweather/ DLH II will be a big fight. Mayweather/Cotto would be a big fights. Those are the fights I would expect someone in Floyd's position to take on.

It's ok for Floyd to fight Oscar but it's not ok for Cotto to fight Gomez, **** if you are gonna **** on Cotto, then **** on Floyd too.

u cant blame him for his loses on the contender against peter manfredo as he was fighting once a month and he fought great against Gatti, n you think he doesnt deserve a shot , he deserves his chance to fight cotto! he deserves his career defying fight n this is it give gomez his chance to shine he is really showing good prospect n he will give cotto a 110% evrey second he will fight cotto no giving up for the lil mexican engine! n i tell ya i see upset on the cards!

    Fighting DLH > Gomez

This wasn't even meant to complain about Cotto. More of Arum, who refused to make Cintron-Cotto (which would of big for PR) Unification as well. Arum wouldn't do it unless Cintron vacated. He wanted Cintron to fight Clottey, and if he wanted to fight Cotto he must vacate. Then he goes and shits on Clottey, sets up Cotto-Gomez and Cintron-Margo.

Lets not mix things up. More money and mainstream attention does not mean bigger fights.

Some of the absolute worst music out right now is top selling.

Actually it does. That's the definition of a big fight, one that generates alot of money and mainstream attention.

I wouldn't expect anyone who follows the sport closely to agree with that part.
