Why has Adamek's punching power not carried over to HW unlike Haye's?

What's the deal with that? In his 10 fights at heavyweight he stopped merely 3 opponents, all of whom are known to be very fragile when it comes to punch resistance:

    - Golota (ancient, obviously)
    - Maddalone
    - Walker

He couldn't even hurt glass chins Grant and McBride (who never went 12 rounds before!!!) even though Adamek was blessed with very decent power at 175 (legitimately knocking down P4P Dawson) and CW (Cunningham down 3x). He seems to have changed his style entirely and is now basically unwilling or unable to actually commit to his punches. He flurries with his weak arm punches in order to gain the benefit of outworking his opponents and has no intention of hurting them it seems. Terrible style to look at but to each his own I suppose. Still, I can't figure how you can go from one of the harder punchers in your division to a P4P Malignaggi type puncher at HW. I suppose it might be a side effect of his new style but that's a rather poor and insufficient explanation for his regress.

Haye on the other hand, hit hard as **** at CW and remained one of the hardest punchers in the division despite moving up and gaining merely 10pounds. Granted, Haye was probably the significantly harder puncher even at CW, but the difference now is a ****ing landslide which is strange given that it's Adamek who has gained +20 pounds.

Agree about him not commiting to his punches at HW. I don't think all the added bulk has help him either, he looks more robotic and muscle bound compared to LH and cruiser where his punches seemed less forced and better timed.

Adamek was never a power puncher to begin with.

He fights the same game plan in every fight...box box box and if he falls he falls.

I remember reading that he was weight-drained at LHW, although I'm not sure if I agree. Regardless, he did hit very hard at CW, so what's your point? James Toney was a hard-hitting MW and remained a somewhat dangerous puncher at HW.

Ha ha, good catch. Plus, Adamek is Polish (just kidding, just kidding:D). Was Thomasz a reputable puncher in the Light heaveyweight/cruiser scene? I dont really know...:think

Pity for David his 'amazing power' didn't carry up against top 10 heavies.

Shall we ask Valuev about that again?

I think it's partly due to a change of style and partly due to age. He definitely seems a bit slower and sloppier now compared to his Cruiserweight days, and lacks a lot of snap in his shots. When he hurt Walker he was wailing away on him with looping slapper type shots. Compare that to when he hurt Banks and it's a world of difference. Compare it even to his first fight at heavyweight against Golota. That Adamek would have destroyed guys like Aguileira and Walker in chilling fashion.

It's not a problem of weight, IMO. If anything, the added weight takes away from his power, and makes him overly stiff and slow.

At Cruiserweight he was a beast and punched with a lot more sharpness and venom. He's eaten his way up to heavyweight in a misguided attempt to compete on "even terms" with the flabby, lumbering oafs that make up a lot of the HW division today. He'd have been much better fighting at his natural weight and maintaining his speed and sharpness I think.

So you're saying that because Valuev didn't go down Haye has great power? I don't use emoticons because they are ****ing stupid, but this would be a great place to put that head scratching one.

Adamek was huge for a light heavy
Cunningham and Dawson both have weak chins.
Adamek has no power at heavyweight, because he got slow and his technique was never that good.
