Why has Froch always been scared to move up?

Froch loses any chance of beating top fighters if he moves up in weight.

His boxing ability and technique are actually atrocious. His main attribute and strengths at 168 are that he's physically stronger than most at the weight and can take punishment. He moves up he's getting hit by harder punches which he can no longer walk through (he cannot dodge a punch to save his life) and he eventaully gets stopped by almost all at the top level

He's not even the best at 168, and he's comfortable at the weight, so why would there be any expectations for him to move up ?

    Scared? No definitely not.
As a boxer/fighter he has never turned his back on a justified and/or fair fight......
What about if kovalev boiled down to smw? Is that fair?
Because I'm pretty sure that would be a different outcome than at lhw.....
    Think please before type.........
    Please.....

    Because he is a coward.

He relys on his superior size to beat his opponants, its his only advantage

Imagine the likes of Roberto Duran had that attitude

Even the likes of de la Hoya went up a weight class to his natural one so he could challenge himself (made 154 easily but went to 160 for strum , Hopkins)

I think this separates the good from the greats

Carl froch is very very underestimated. He has proved this time and again in his career. All the time on this forum I read warrior this and warrior that but when it comes back to Carl it becomes all about "boxing ability"........
Give him a break for once because there hasn't been many providing the level of excitement he has in recent years at that weight has there?

Froch is a G. Been flag waving and doing Britain and boxing proud for years. As for his skills, they're great! Obviously. How in the fu¢k could anyone compete and be successful at world level if not...?
He's awkward and unorthodox, that's all. Some idiots on here seem to equate that with bad balance, being clumsy, no technique etc. His spacing, timing, tactics, ring generalship, pacing of a fight, stamina and chin make him a formidable opponent.

Last time I checked, Adonis Stevenson was a SMW who moved up, so why can't Froch? The weight excuse is *******s.

As I said, has no boxer ever given away weight to move up divisions?

It's why Carl will be remembered as nothing more than a decent fighter.
