He was desperate to leave Goosen. He didn't trust them after Goosen screwed over his co-promoter and because of this was willing to stall his career and then take a huge risk by signing to Roc Nation the one outfit that seemed prepared to buy him out of his contract. Basically you had a desperate fighter looking to get out of his current deal and a desperate promoter looking to try and get a foot hold in the boxing business. Time will tell if this was wise or if Ward has shot himself in the foot again.
