Why has HBO avoided David Haye?

1- They have a vested interest in Wladimir Klitschko.

2- Wlad's trainer is a member of their broadcasting crew

3-They've already hitched their "Young HW to excite the division" wagon to Chris Arreola. Not to mention that whole "1st Mexican Heavyweight champion" angle they're pushing.

4-David Haye has exactly TWO HW fights and while Barrett-Haye was an exciting fight it's still not exactly the easiest fight to showcase.

5-Haye is mouthy and a bit of a vigilante which HBO seems to be moving away from.

6- It pisses Steve Bunce off

I could go on and on basically.

HBO only showcases Europeon fighters once they have made a serious name for themselves. If he beats Wlad you will see him on HBO from now on. Hatton didn't make it to HBO until after beating Tzyu I don't think Kahn has been on there at all yet.

I may be wrong but I don't think Abraham has been there at all yet. For a Euro fighter to be on HBO he has to have beaten a big name american fighter or 2 or another HBO fighter.

Khan fought some feather fisted bum as the opening bout of Calzaghe vs Peter Manfredo if I remember correctly. So he has already been on HBO.

Well there's also the American blockade. Abraham has never been showcased primarily because Hopkins THEN Taylor THEN Pavlik held precedence for HBO. They had a few USA based MWs who they had latched onto as "their guys." Not only that but Edison "La Pantera" Miranda was on a wave of momentum that made HBO stop and do a double take.

It's not that HBO was blocking Abraham out they just had their other priorities.

Nowadays Abraham's fights aren't shown on HBO because he refuses to come to the US and fight at the times they air....only Wlad will get the tape at 5, air at 9 treatment.

yep, your right, I remember that now. I forgot I ever saw him fight:lol:

that is the exception to the rule though as the fight was in Wales so it would be a UK card.

Part of the failed contender experiement:lol:

HBO is not interested in Heavyweights (outside of Klitschko & Arreola) anymore . . . and rightfully so.

He mouths off like a yank and he`s a big prospect at heavyweight so i can`t see why hbo aren`t interested in him.Probably they`ll think Klitschko will bludgeon him and they`re not far wrong.

Yep. They have missed the boat with Haye to some degree. He pretty much ticks all the boxes, except for the born in the USA one. But he is a black british HW and a lot of people hate the Klitschko brothers reign, a lot of US fans would side with Haye just in the hope that it brings some excitement to the division.
