Why has Hopkins made this unwinnable match? Why does he think he can win?

No man, I was talking about the Hopkins-Tarver scores, you got that one and are just messin me up... I said Hopkins would keep his distance more from the stronger Calzaghe and wouldn't do so much clinching and grabbing inside.

Sorry man, didn't mean to mess you up. I just read it first and my flabber has never been so ghasted.

That's a very specific idea. I will look out for it in the fight.

Please check on that and understand that broad-shouldered Kessler could never antecipate with his heavy right cause he couldn't get in between Cal's arms. Bernard comes in like a thin sheet of paper and connects at the right time and spaces... I am just suggesting cause he can't be hoping on capitalizing on Cal's whirlwind attack at the flanks - Bernard would have his face full of punches before putting any sort of counter-offense. The fu**in thing is that I am still waiting for Cal's career collection from ebay ( already payed for) from San Jose, Cali - I cannot go into other fights besides Kessler, Mafredo, Bika, Lacy and Veit at this moment. I have B-Hops fights at least.

Are you sure you didn't purchase them from Calzaghe himself and he'll send you some postcards instead?

Chill out - there's about 10 weeks left!

I'm definitely worried since I bought it in ebay and then ebay sent me a letter that the member is no longer registered ( he has 100% feedback tho) - openend a dispute on PayPal and still hope to get it... Boxing-Fights.com has Calzaghe's collection for £ 22 and that would be my next move.

    Now,
Serious 54 thousand dolla question for ya - how can Joe Calzaghe get in and out and score numerous blows on Hopkins without the Philly Old Man River sneak in and counter him with that right. Judge by your own eyes as Joey comes in and can come to be short with the right jab... End of the fifth Cal-Kess...

    Very nice post bro.

I will just say that I don't expect Cal to get this square against Hopkins. Hopkins IS the best at landing with his head down like that though.

    What round is this, Cal-Kessler?

I am not sure but I guess it's the end of the fifth Cal-Kess. Hopkins comes head down ( nothing much to shoot at) and gets in between your arms and then he's pretty sharp and fast with the right counter.

    Yeah, good post again.

I will say this - Calzaghe better be "further south" against Hopkins than he was against "1-2 Kessler", but I think he will be.

Boxers make mistakes and get caught from time to time. Calzaghe is certainly no exception to this rule and he will DEFINATELY be caught a couple of times. Notice that Calzaghe's head is turning away at the very point of Kessler pulling the trigger with his right hand, lessening the impact. These are the subtle defensive skills that will see him through on the few occasions that Hopkins lands one of these counters.

Calzaghe takes risks to get into positions to unload. Most of the time it works, sometimes it doesn't. On balance, I think Calzaghe will happily take a few if, for the most part, he succeeds.

On a side note, that seems like nothing more than a push to the face to send Tito reeling away!

Hopkins want this fight for the money. However, the judges and ref will be against Calzaghe, so Calzaghe will have to fight harder. I don't know why an Euro fighter would come to America facing such a provincial attituded, bias, prejudice, etc. He is putting himself at a disavantage, but is the better fighter at this time. So, in spite of all the problems, he would win this fight.

Yeah but lets not forget that the "welter" was the favorite and expected to beat Hopkins. :good

China Joe while I do believe Calzaghe is going to win this match, I think you are sadly mistaken if you think Cal is going to dominate Hops, Hops is a style nightmare for just about everyone thats pretty much anybody thats ever laced up a glove (btw i'm not a Hopkins fan) Joe will not get off his 80-100 punches per round against Hops, Hops is one of the smartest, and one of the most tactical boxers I've ever seen. He knows how to bend the rules and he know how to make you fight his fight. Both fighters are going to have there moments, but I say Joe C 116-112, I think your gonna see alot of close rounds, similar to the Pavlik Taylor fight
