Why has Hopkins made this unwinnable match? Why does he think he can win?

This fight is more than winnable for Bernard Hopkins.

1- Joe Calzaghe is a rythm fighter, rythm fighter hate thinking fighter because they are able to do the right things at the right time to derail that rythm. Bernard will use slick movement and his superior ability to control distance in order to keep Joe offbalance rushing in and out.

Boxing is not just about punching, it is about punching at the right time and the right place, its is about maneuvering your opponent into traps and stinging them when they fall in it. Joe Calzaghe's able to use speed, awkwardness and rythm to confuse his adversaries most of the time. He disrupts their rythm through fluid and constant waves of punches.

A man like Bernard is the perfect weapon against a fighter like Calzaghe. Bernard will not let Calzaghe throw 1000 plus punches, with movement alone he'll cut that number by 400... then with feints he'll eliminate another 100... with careful use of his offensive weapons, Bernard will force Calzaghe into defense mode, 2-3 punches then tie him up... this will cut Calzaghe's output by another 100... Calzaghe will not throw more than 500 punches in that fight. Meanwhile, Bernard will land the more accurate shots, and they will look dramatic because Calzaghe will often be offbalance when they land.

I know because I've seen it, Bernard will prevail, he has also visualized that fight, it is crystal clear...

That is why Bernard Hopkins is taking Joe Calzaghe to school in April, because he knows he has a lesson to teach and he knows it'll be new material for Calzaghe.

    Bernard easy UD

The body won't do what the mind is thinking, which is why Mitchell take a decision.

Think about it Mitchell beat Ottke and Ottke, without doubt beats 2008 Hopkins.

Calzaghe looked good in the last half of the Kessler fight but in the first half he was flat footed and his footwork wasn't there. I think that's what Hopkins saw, an opportunity to get close, hold, use his head, elbows, short punches and hold some more. Hopkins doesn't have a great punch output, he's a 1-2 hold fighter. He'll stand on Calzaghes feet, turn him, wrestle him. He's no Kessler or Jeff Lacey, He'll have loose canvas and tight ropes, a Nevada Ref. and homecooked Judges, he's gonna be very hard to beat.

Didn't you know that comp level means nothing to Calzaghe fans? As long as you look good against bums and talk **** about the great fighters (without actually fighting them) you're an all time great :happy

As i said before, i think he regrets calling out Calzaghe after the Winky fight. And remember, at that time, it was before Calzaghe dismantled Kessler. So i simply think Hopkins underestimated Calzaghe. And i still think that if he could take those words back, he would. But he's a man who doesn't like to go back on his words and i think he knows he has little chance but pride is telling him to go through with the fight.

What the hell are you talking about.

Bernard is a different class of fighter, completely different class.

If that's the case, how come Hopkins was so easy to negotiate with? Hopkins is a tough negotiator. If he regretted calling out Calzaghe in July, he wouldn't have been so easy to negotiate in January. He certainly wouldn't have got in Calzaghe's face and said what he said at the Mayweather/Hatton pre fight news conference. It's one thing to go against your word, it's another thing to actively pursue the fight in the manner that he did.
