Why has Hopkins made this unwinnable match? Why does he think he can win?

Hopkins has no chance unless he makes this an ugly fight and takes a close SD. BHop has no KO power and presents less danger than a faded Chris Eubanks who Calzaghe did very well against.

Any losing bet is a poor bet - Hopkins is very unlikely to win.

The odds on Hopkins have drifted this evening after the New York press conference. Any ideas what happened?

I genuinely think Hopkins knows he's second favourite in this fight. His motivation is fear of being outclassed.

People who bet on Hopkins in this shouldn't lose money, they should just be put down.

Yeah, I think Calzaghe will win, but Hopkins still has a decent chance I feel. I may put like £5 on him, and hope to get like £20 back. But I still hope Calzaghe kicks his ass.

I just wish this had been made immediately after the Tarver fight, better than even odds then.

    God damn!!!

These odds are amazing given the nature of Hopkins as a fighter.

I may have a tiny flutter myself!

Take note though - they will shorten up as the small bills come in in the week preceeding the fight.

might seem that way but realistically we're talking about a 44 year old great past his prime against a man 9 years his junior but perhaps...perhaps...his equal during his prime.

my advice to you is don't put any money on hopkins for this fight.

I expect Calzaghe to win this fight.

But if a commited Hopkins was given 3 chances...he might pull it off once.

And these odds are better than 3-1. So it's worth thinking about.

You should have called yourself BadIntentions69 or something like that...your user name is pish.

Calzaghe has a 100% chance of winning, in line with determinism.

You're on fine form this week.

Ever been asked a hypothetical question concerning your behaviour if a seemingly impossible event occured?

Money is the key motivation for Hopkins now. However, Calzaghe will be on Hopkins' turf, with American judges and ref, so Calzaghe might have to fight judges, ref, commentators, etc., I sure hope not, just want a fair decision, not so provincial. Calzaghe should beat Hopkins, but you never know in boxing.

what interests me about this fight is from the standpoint of a betting opportunity, and a major one... i dont think the fight itself will be that exciting... i imagine an ugly mugging-type of fight similar to wright/hopkins

given this scenario, that you could get better than 2 to 1 on hopkins is ridiculous

when all the smart money comes pouring in the hours before the fight, the odds will change and i guarantee they will change in hopkins' favor

well i was born in '67 which makes me 40 years old now.

it also means i can relate to hopkins' plight as a former boxer.
